GREETINGS

I

n 2003, my family and I established a business model that has become this company’s legacy. For over a decade, we have served Brevard County with the highest level of quality service and customer satisfaction. This starts with Jesus Christ as our foundation, whose teachings set a good example for us all. It’s not enough to know the Word. We strive to apply the word of God to every aspect of our lives, including our business. We support our country and all the people that sacrifice, live and work here in this great land we call the United States of America. Setting the right example is up to all of us. That’s why the majority of the materials that go into the working gears of our business—and make their way to the consumer’s home—are made in America. Our employees are handpicked based solely on their craftsmanship, and their ability to follow directions and work as a team. Our employees are also certified, background checked, and drug tested for your security and confidence. Brevard Cooling is always willing to find jobs for hard working people looking for a career. We offer an apprenticeship program that gives potential employees the hands-on training they need to succeed. Whether someone calls needing service, a unit replacement, or just to ask a general question, we have made ourselves available around the clock. We always strive to provide the highest level of customer service. I appreciate you taking your time to read our magazine and look forward to our family providing yours with exceptional customer service now and in the future.

Sincerely,

THE JOURNEY

Brevard Cooling Believing is the key to success

J

ohn Arrigo and Ben Constantino worked at different HVAC companies in Brevard County, Fla. for years, and knew each other through professional associations, community outreach activities and involvement in their church. When John was laid off from his job during the recession, he and Ben decided to pool their 30 years of experience in the field. They’d both raised up through the ranks of HVAC hands-on technical and management skills, and felt that they had the experience to make a new air conditioning and heating company successful. They were committed to the fact that the 8

customer is always right, and the key to a thriving company is customer service. Their business and customer relationships have always been built on loyalty. John said, “We wanted to create a more comprehensive service and installation company, focused on the residential market and based on the highest quality of workmanship and craftsmanship. We knew the only way to accomplish this was to create a working environment that is both friendly, family oriented and focused on all employees to function as one. Every year we do several events together as a family, such as deep-sea brevardcooling.com

fishing, company cookouts, celebration of birthdays, spontaneous outings, Christmas parties and more.” Several years ago, they gathered their families; found good, skilled workers; built a mission on honesty, professionalism, courtesy and the best equipment available: and propelled Brevard Cooling and Heating Inc. to the fastest growing HVAC company in Brevard County. “My father always told me that if you surround yourself with good people and treat them with respect and support, good things will happen,” Ben

and Heating, Inc. by Suzi Harkola

stated. “We’ve certainly found that to be true with the success of Brevard Cooling and Heating.”

whether the equipment was purchased from us or not. A 5 percent discount is also offered to our senior customers.”

He continued, “We are not just another air conditioning and heating company. We offer far more than 24-hour quality break-down repair. Our service menu includes full tune-ups that are more extensive than our competitors; quick system check-ups; solar power installation; duct cleaning and sanitizing; installation of new AC and heating equipment and duct work; free estimates and second opinions, and emergency services. Additionally we honor all warranties,

The family-owned-and -managed business serves all of Brevard County: Mims, Titusville, Port St. John, Cocoa, Cape Canaveral, Rockledge, Melbourne, West Melbourne, Palm Bay, Grant, Valkaria, Barefoot Bay, Merritt Island and all of Beachside. John and Ben’s wives and sisters work at the headquarters office in Rockledge, and Ben’s brother and John’s uncle are part of the technical team. All are dedicated to the same quality of service exemplified by the two young brevardcooling.com

men. The staff that completes the team is likewise dedicated to the same moral values. All employees undergo drug testing and background checks, are cleancut, and wear uniforms. Employees are properly educated, and all technicians and installers are certified. Faith, however, is the underlying element that has propelled this young company to such amazing success. As John explains, “Our main rock is God. That’s really why we started the company: to help spread the word of God though our work, through our involvement in church and ministries. But it’s important 2014 COMFORT ZONE

that people know that we don’t push Christian values or personal views on them or our workers. We simply use our beliefs to run a successful business.” Ben added that their participation in Promise Keepers, a Christian men’s ministry dedicated to motivating men to influence their world through a relationship with Jesus Christ, has helped keep them focused. “So many companies are all about the money. We try to downplay that aspect and address the complete needs of our customers,” he said. One of their outreach ministries is Destiny Church in Merritt Island, Fla. The church addresses the needs of many, including children, young adults, singles and married couples. Individual members of the Brevard Cooling and Heating staff participate in the work there, and the company supports the Church financially.

10

Additionally, the company sponsors a 5K charity race, as well as five Christian radio stations throughout the area. Their community outreach extends to individual customers as well. According to both John and Ben, there is a real need for people to come together and support each other. “We know we can’t help everyone, but we will try to help as many as possible. Whether it’s an elderly family with a fixed income or a single parent trying to make ends meet, we will do everything we possibly can to help people where they are,” John explained.

John says the company’s mission statement can easily be summed up as “the commitment to provide the highest skilled and professional services at the lowest price possible, with service based on our Christian values.” The vision that John and Ben implemented has blossomed into a truly successful reality. The company has, in the true spirit of compassion and service, “done well by doing good.” ll by doing good.”

THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A

HOME COMFORT SYSTEM

When it’s time to replace your home comfort system, it’s important to consider what a newer system can offer. Here are five items to consider when purchasing an HVAC system: 1 RELIABILITY

Chances are your heating and cooling system is the most expensive equipment you will purchase for your home. That’s why it’s important to choose proven products from a reputable manufacturer.

2 EFFICIENCY

A new ENERGY STAR®-labeled system, when properly sized and installed, can save you up to 30% on your annual heating and cooling costs.* Plus, it may qualify you for utility rebates** in certain regions.

3 QUIET OPERATION

Air conditioners can produce sounds as high as 80 decibels. Look for technologies and features that help keep operating sound at a comfortable level.

4 CONSISTENT TEMPERATURES

With a typical furnace or single-speed air conditioner, indoor temperature can vary as much as seven degrees from the thermostat setting. A properly-installed programmable thermostat gives you the assurance of precise temperature control*.

5 BALANCED HUMIDITY

To maintain proper moisture levels in your home, choose a thermostat that controls both temperature and humidity.

**Check with your local utility about rebates in your area.

magine taking your car in for a simple tune-up and having a mechanic tell you that only a new engine can solve your problem. You’d probably be immediately skeptical; after all, a brand new engine is going to cost you a lot more than an oil change, and the mechanic stands to make more money. If you’re wise, at that point you’ll turn around and get your car looked at by someone else before you do anything. Maybe the mechanic isn’t lying, but it’s always good to double check. Unfortunately, unscrupulous characters are everywhere, trying to make an extra 12

buck by selling their customers something they don’t need. From salesmen to mechanics and even air conditioning contractors, it’s good to be cautious. Seeking a second opinion is always the right idea whenever you’re facing a large repair bill. “On more than one occasion, I’ve had customers call us seeking a second opinion because some other air conditioning contractor told them they needed a whole new system,” says John Arrigo, the President of Brevard Cooling. “We’d head out to look at their system for them, and sure enough all they need brevardcooling.com

is a small repair. It happens more often than you think.” When it comes to air conditioning services, high pressure selling often works. When it’s super hot outside, all a person wants is their A/C back on. Secondly, when a nice-looking professional in a uniform says something, a lot of people take it as fact. But regardless of how much you’re made to sweat, it’s recommended that you remove yourself from the situation and take some time before making a major decision. “Your mother probably always told you

A SECOND OPINION IS THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE IF YOU’RE MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION. to be cautious of strangers, and she’s right,” says Arrigo. “If our customers want to seek a second opinion about the work we do, I’m not offended. Seeking a second opinion about any major repair is a smart idea. Sadly, there are a lot of bad contractors out there who will do anything to make money.”

For starters, make sure you’re only doing business with a company who is licensed. Second, spend a little time researching different contractors; ask your friends who they’ve used, and search for reviews online. Not getting ripped off starts by making sure any organization you do business with is a reputable one.

As a consumer, it’s your job to take all the necessary steps to protect yourself.

When you call a different contractor to get a second opinion, give them the brevardcooling.com

details of the first company’s diagnosis so they know exactly what to look for. When it comes to providing customers a second opinion, many contractors will offer their expertise opinion free of charge. So, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t get all of the facts before you open your wallet; a good company will support your decision to protect yourself. 2014 COMFORT ZONE

ommunity support is a high priority for the Brevard Cooling and Heating team, and when approached about supporting the Viera Suntree Little League (VSLL), it didn’t take much convincing for owners Ben and John to say 'yes'. Waggoner, a team mom, says “Ben and his family live in our neighborhood, and we knew Brevard Cooling and Heating supported local programs. There was no hesitation when we made the request for a $500 sponsorship to our girls’ softball team. They went over and above by donating an additional $900 to support the entire Viera Suntree Little League program.” VSLL is a baseball and softball league for boys and girls, which includes noncompetitive and competitive divisions. Non-competitive offers age-appropriate experiences that include t-ball, machine pitch and kid pitch softball, for ages 4 to 10. Competitive divisions are truly competitive, meaning try-outs are required to make the team. Competitive softball has opportunities ages 9 to 16, and the competitive baseball divisions are for ages 10 to 16. One of the team moms, Laurel, is excited about opportunities for her daughter. “Skylar is eight, and it is her first year. The girls get a chance to experience different field positions, but Skylar’s favorite positions are pitcher and 1st base.” When asked about how names are selected for teams, Laurel says “At the level my daughter is playing, the coaches choose names that match collegiate teams, like the Gamecocks, Seminoles and Tigers. Our girls’ team, The Gamecocks, is named after the University of South Carolina baseball team.”

14

COMFORT ZONE 2014

According to Waggoner, “The Little League is such a great opportunity for kids to learn valuable lessons they will carry through the rest of their lives. The coaches make the experience positive and work hard to make sure each player lives up to the pledge of Little League.”

Little League Pledge

I trust in God I love my country And will respect its laws I will play fair And strive to win But win or lose I will always do my best.

About VSLL When Brevard Cooling & Heating learned about VSLL and its history, it was a natural fit to support the team and League. VSLL is located in Brevard County, bordered on the east by 72 miles of the Atlantic Ocean coastline. VSLL is part of Florida District 2 Little League that was created in the 1950’s as one of the original Florida Little League Districts. VSLL was started in 1997 with approximately 250 players and fields on what was originally an undeveloped parcel of land next to Suntree Elementary School. VSLL grew and they found ways to play ball each season, but supporters never stopped seeking out opportunities to build a Little League complex. It took 10 long years and a lot of herculean help and support, but in those 10 years, they were able to build ball fields, fencing, dugouts, bleachers, lighting, foul ball netting, a concession stand, restroom facilities and even a true 90’ dirt diamond infield. In spring 2007, Viera Regional Park was officially open for use by Viera Suntree Little League.

• VSLL player Kevin Trainor was named as Little League International’s Good Sport of the Year recipient in 2008, after being nominated by the VSLL League. Kevin was one of 2.7 million players nominated from across more than 7,000 Little League programs worldwide, and selected as a winner by Little League International. VSLL implemented its own Sportsmanship program in 2005, now known as the Kevin Trainor Sportsmanship Award. • VSLL hosted the Seniors Baseball AllStar Regional Tournament in August 2008 and again in August 2009. • VSLL restructured the Minors baseball division into A, AA and AAA in spring 2010.

The most important thing about the Little League program is that the rules require that every child plays in every game. Anyone that has ever been involved with Little League is fully aware of the commitment necessary from players, family members, coaches and the importance of sponsors to make it work and thrive. Each team needs to find their own $500 sponsors, and the “Gamecocks” team of girls’ softball players has secured their sponsor in Brevard Cooling and Heating. The Brevard team has stepped up to the plate, not only to sponsor the girls’ softball team, but they also committed $900 as an added sponsorship for the entire Viera Suntree Little League program. A grand slam!

• VSLL’s Challenger division began in spring 2007. • VSLL captured its first (and second) All-Star State titles in spring 2007. 9/10 Baseball and 9/10 Softball each won State championships. • VSLL won a second consecutive 9/10 Softball All-State State Championship in spring 2008. It was their third State title. brevardcooling.com

Regular maintenance keeps your system running efficiently, saving you money on utility bills. Potential problems can be prevented or corrected early. Additionally, proper servicing extends the life of your heating and air conditioning system. Plus, regular maintenance keeps your manufacturer’s warranty in force. Other benefits include fewer repairs and improved capacity from your system. Service agreements are transferable.

What are Maintenance Agreements? by Nate Freyburger

W

hether you’re installing a new air conditioning system or you’re having an old system repaired, chances are there is a maintenance agreement that would benefit you. These agreements are designed to save consumers money on routine maintenance, while also protecting them from any potential problems. But before you jump into buying one, make sure you find the option that would benefit you the most. Maintenance agreements are held between you and an air conditioning service provider, wherein you prepay for maintenance at a discounted rate and receive other additional benefits. They cover routine cleanings and check-ups, and they may help subsidize the cost of massive emergency repairs or offer other savings. Think of them as a peace of mind policy for your system. One overlooked advantage of a maintenance agreement is that it assures your air conditioning system will get the annual service inspection it needs. These annual tune-ups are important, since they allow a professional to spot

any potential problems with your system early, before they spiral into something more expensive. Further, an annual maintenance appointment will help to keep your system clean and running efficiently, which could save you money on energy bills. Many people overlook their air conditioner, ignoring its needs until there’s a serious problem. Similar to how your car requires an oil change in order to keep it running, your air conditioner needs to be regularly serviced in order to prevent catastrophic issues. If something major goes wrong with your system because you have been neglecting to maintain it, a repair may end up costing you thousands of dollars. Just remember that some warranties may require regular maintenance. That’s one of the reasons why maintenance agreements exist – to help mitigate the cost associated with regular air conditioning service calls. Keep in mind that a maintenance agreement is far cheaper than a major system problem caused by a lack of upkeep; having your system routinely serviced could save you big down the line.

Corrosion Protection

eating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units are one of your home’s largest and most costly assets. When they work properly, they blend into every day life. When the equipment doesn’t work properly, it has a large impact on the day, and you can’t seem to get the repairs done fast enough. When installing a new HVAC unit, it is critical to consider a corrosion protection treatment. Corrosion protection can extend the service life of HVAC equipment and parts, such as coils, fans, tubes, fins and even the cabinets. This is particularly true in coastal saltwater and fresh water environments. Applying corrosion protection to equipment before installation by a qualified HVAC professional, can pay off in energy savings, equipment operations and longevity. HVAC units coated with protective treatments operate more efficiently, saving energy that, coupled with regular maintenance, can keep the operations and air quality at the highest efficiencies possible. In addition, corrosion protection acts as an agent and natural repellant for mold spores, dirt, other organic debris, and help maintain better indoor air quality. Corrosion can be one of the biggest problems in causing a unit to fail because it eats at the metal, and a moist climate accelerates corrosion and shortens the lifespan of a unit. There are many everyday environmental products that hasten the corrosion process, such as household bleach, fabric softener, vinegar, cosmetics, aerosol sprays, smoking, adhesives, pesticides, swimming pool chemicals, fertilizers, building materials, mattresses and even latex paint, to name a few. Add oxygen (air) and any form of moisture (high humidity), and you have a rich corrosive environment. Living in an environment like Florida means you don’t live too far from water. Whether you’re near fresh water or saltwater, the humidity in the air has an effect on the life of all metal products, indoors or out. Without corrosion protection, most corrosive processes will begin to appear in one to four years after initial install of most equipment.

“Scheduling regular maintenance by a professional will also help to keep a healthy, working HVAC system.” When Ben Constantino from Brevard Cooling & Heating was asked about corrosion protection he said, “The benefit is priceless, especially when you see your neighbor replacing the same unit 3-5 years sooner than you do.” Protection cannot be circumvented with the installation of a zinc sacrificial anode, as some might profess. Don’t be fooled or mislead. Professional corrosion protection application is a painstaking process, an investment that is done on-site. Whenever possible, buy Americanmade products or insist on American made parts when repairs are made. Foreign-made HVAC units and foreignmade products, like foreign copper, brevardcooling.com

can add to the corrosion equation. (see Made in the U.S.A , page 24) HVAC units and parts Made in the U.S.A. may cost a little more, but they are made of higher quality components and materials, all of which can add value and enhance the life of equipment. At the very least, if you feel the best option is to buy a unit manufactured overseas, add corrosion protection because it will help extend the life of the unit. “Rust is never covered under warranty,” according to every HVAC manufacturer. So protect your investment, minimize pollutants like mold spores within your environment and prevent corrosion by having corrosion protection applied to your equipment. 2014 COMFORT ZONE

Why Your AC Needs A Check-Up by Clair Cameron

Y

our air conditioner is one of the hardest working appliances in your home, and it deserves some love and special attention. At least once a year, it’s important to give your a/c system a full inspection and tune-up, to assure that it’s running smoothly when you need it most. Any number of issues may develop in your system while it’s actively working overtime to cool your home and, conversely, your system may also develop problems while it’s dormant during the winter months. Servicing your unit allows any potential concerns to be spotted early, before they become worse. If your air conditioning system has a small problem that you allow to spiral downward, a major repair could be in your future. The cost of an a/c repair – or worse, a full system replacement – is almost certainly going to be more expensive than a maintenance appointment.

20

COMFORT ZONE 2014

Look at it this way: If your car needs an oil change and you neglect to take care of it, you could end up blowing the engine. Your air conditioner works much in the same way; you have to maintain it regularly, or you risk causing serious damage that could end up costing you a small fortune. The longevity and health of your system is only part of the reason why regular upkeep is a great idea. Annual maintenance assures that your system is working as efficiently as possible, using only the amount of energy it needs to get the job done. In short, keeping your system clean and tuned-up improves energy efficiency, and will likely save you money on energy bills. For older system, this annual maintenance is even more important, and not just because it’s at increased risk for

brevardcooling.com

breaking down. Older systems are less energy-efficient and, combined with the rising cost of power, saving money while using them can be a real hassle. By paying for a relatively inexpensive service call once or twice a year, you’re almost assuredly going to get that money back in terms of what you’ll save on bills. A service call keeps all systems running at an optimal level, and for older systems it may be what prevents a major malfunction. Regular maintenance has an upfront cost, but neglecting to do it could be far more expensive. In the end, a large repair bill is going to cost you far more, and the savings you’ll reap on energy bills are worth the cost of an appointment. Remember, no machine is designed to work forever. Your a/c system needs to be taken care of properly, and doing so could expand its lifespan well beyond the years the manufacturer ever intended.

If you live in a warm climate, chances are your air conditioner runs constantly for most of the year. During that time, filters will become dirty, coils can become caked with dust, blockages may develop, and system leaks may become worse.

es, mold ... or the kinder, gentler word for it: mildew. Whichever word you choose, they both increase stress levels and can make your return home less than ideal. It doesn’t have to be that way. There are things you can do to prevent that nasty four-letter word from spoiling an otherwise wonderful vacation. The Florida Department of Health’s website says “There are four kinds of health problems that come from exposure to mold: allergic illness, irritant effects, infection, and toxic effects. For people that are sensitive to molds, symptoms such as nasal and sinus irritation or congestion, dry hacking cough, wheezing, skin rashes or burning, watery or reddened eyes may occur. People with severe allergies to molds may have more serious reactions, such as hay-feverlike symptoms or shortness of breath.”

letter word...

Mold is not an easily ignored house guest, and its impacts can have serious repercussions. If during an inspection of your home you find mold, especially in your air conditioning system, the time to act is now. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) suggests the following: “Do not run the HVAC system if you know or suspect that it is contaminated with mold—it could spread mold throughout the building. Unfortunately, it is thought that most, if not all, heating and air conditioning systems in Florida will support mold growth at some point. Stopping the use of an air conditioning system due to suspected mold growth would make most Florida buildings very uncomfortable during hot and humid weather.” Mold is resilient and easily adaptable, it is part of our environment and it is here to stay. Preventing a buildup of mold in

brevardcooling.com

your home is part of the maintenance requirements of any healthy household, and if regularly addressed, is not too bothersome or time-consuming. Some of the steps you can take are obvious, others are not so obvious. Below is a list of tips that will help to minimize the chances of creating an environment conducive to the generation of microbial spores (that’s the technical term for mold): Before you leave, close your windows (especially in bathrooms and bedrooms) and seal sliding glass doors. Close all south and west-facing blinds and curtains. Clean or replace your air conditioner filter. Turn up spreads and dust ruffles on couches and chairs. Stand your couch cushions on end. Open cabinet drawers and closets (especially in bathrooms and

Few realize or are aware that, under the right circumstances, mold can form in just 48 hours! bedrooms). Keep in mind that you want air to circulate rather than remain stagnant. Turn the hot and cold water off. This should be done even if you are gone for a short time. You also might have heard “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” When it comes to mold, that’s exactly correct. You do not get mold because the temperature rises, you get mold when the relative humidity rises. It could be 90 degrees in your home, but unless the relative humidity is over 55 or 60 percent, the chances of mold forming are minimal. If you have a de-humidistat, set it and the thermostat properly. The de-humidistat turns the air conditioner on by humidity increase rather than temperature increase. The suggested and safest setting is 50% humidity and 80 degrees temperature – wired in series. This

means the temperature must get over 80 degrees and the humidity over 50% before the air conditioner turns on. Your thermostat control should be set to automatic and cool. NEVER set the fan in the “on” position. A continuous fan operation will increase the relative humidity in your home.

Ask a neighbor to check your home once a week. One other pitfall to avoid is this: Most of us think we only need to prepare against mold if we’re going away for the entire summer. Few realize or are aware that, under the right circumstances, mold can form in just 48 hours! And once it starts, it reproduces every six minutes. So do the math: If you’re leaving for more than a week, there’s an outside chance you could return to a funny smell that means there’s something wrong. Now we’re not saying

brevardcooling.com

that you’ll get mold every time you leave the house for more than two days. What we are saying is that it doesn’t take long if the conditions are idyllic. Generally speaking, if you’re only leaving for a week or two, all you need to do is set your thermostat to 80 or 82 degrees, and you should not have a problem. If you plan to be away for a month or longer, that’s when it would be wise to take more serious precautionary measures. If at any point you notice mold growth, don’t waste time in dealing with it. Treat it as soon as it starts to slow spreading, and make sure to take all necessary precautions to prevent new mold from forming. If mold is growing in your air conditioning system, it’s best to call an expert to have your system treated. When it comes to your health, you shouldn’t take any unnecessary risks.

TRIED TRUE T

he owners of Brevard Cooling and Heating are buying Made in the U.S.A. products whenever possible, for their business operations. “We are committed to buying products made in the U.S. because we know these products are better built, plus if we buy American, we re-build America,” says Ben Constantino Over a 6 month period, the Brevard team sourced high-quality Made in the U.S.A. products and parts, and continues to seek out resources. “It’s an ongoing, but fulfilling, process to find American made parts and equipment,” says Constantino. brevardcooling.com

“Demand for American made products helps strengthen and create new businesses; communities thrive, jobs are created and the economy grows. Plus we are further fostering American independence when we seek out and buy Americanmade products,” proclaims Ben. Brevard has seen how equipment and parts produced in foreign countries fail sooner because the materials often contain contaminants or pollutants. According to Ben, “It is a fact that U.S. companies produce better, longer lasting products. Some buyers may not realize that there are pollutants in foreign made products. Because of the lower quality

foreign manufacturing processes, more and more companies, both domestic and foreign, are sourcing production from American companies. For us, it’s about having better options of greater value for us and for our customers.” According to Ben, “It’s amazing. If you touch an American-made product and a foreign-made product, you can actually feel and see the difference. “For example, there is a big difference between copper pipe made in the U.S., and that made overseas. Brevard will only buy American made copper because the foreign made copper has additives. You can feel the pitting. American made copper is smoother. The cheaper foreign-made copper can also corrode

faster,” says Ben. “We have noticed that foreign products also have a tendency to show rust quicker, and rust is never covered under warranty.”

buy local, when possible. Not all these purchases are American-made, but Brevard believes that buying local helps the local economy.

Heating and cooling systems, solar systems, motors, capacitors, filters and even the smallest parts that are Made in the U.S.A often have a whole different look and feel. Brevard invites you to experience that difference at their facility; not only to see how clean and wellorganized the facility is, but they want to open boxes so you can actually touch and feel the difference for yourself.

According to Ben, “Most companies will buy foreign made products, or purchase on-line because of price, but there is more to value than just the price.”

“When looking for ways to save on energy costs, consider American-made solar systems,” says Ben. “There are significant tax incentives, up to 30%, for homeowners and businesses that install solar products, and in the long-term it pays for itself.” Brevard looks for ways to save on costs, but when it comes to buying things like paper, work apparel, office furniture, and other supplies, they have opted to brevardcooling.com

Brevard also sources American-made when purchasing new service vehicles and shop tools. While researching, they decided to only buy their gasoline for their vehicles sourced from Americanowned companies. Ben sums it up, “We want quality and value for our company, for our families, and want to offer our customers the best options to protect their investment. We also want to put Americans to work. It starts with us, and we feel it is our responsibility to help the U.S. economy grow, but also educate our customers. As Americans, it is our responsibility to do our part, for the future of our customers, our business and our families.” 2014 COMFORT ZONE

Your home is essentially a Petri dish for dust, dander, mold and microorganisms. All of these invaders use your living space to multiply and spread, and can build up by the minute.

ou can almost say that air quality defines life quality. When indoor air is pure and clean, we sleep better, breathe better, and we’re healthier. Well-maintained and efficient air cleaners can significantly lower the amount of pollutants in the air. Their usefulness varies considerably, depending on the type of cleaner, and on the strength of the indoor pollution source. The acronym MERV stands for “Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value.” The MERV rating was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerat26

ing and Air-Conditioning Engineers, and is the standard method for comparing the efficiency of an air filter. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at removing particles from the air.

Why the MERV Rating is so Important When you’re purchasing an air conditioner or furnace filter, you want to be sure that you are buying one that’s appropriate for your home and your family’s specific needs. When you or someone in your home suffers from brevardcooling.com

allergies, respiratory problems, or other similar incidences, you’ll want to look for a higher MERV rating. Then again, you may just want to get the best filter for your family so that the indoor air quality is the best it can be. Your options include a throwaway fiberglass filter, washable filter, and one-inch or five-inch pleated filters. Remember, check the MERV rating, and don’t be afraid to call an expert. Any reputable company should be happy to help you find exactly the filter you need to maximize the air quality in your home.

Spreading the Word... LOCAL ZONE

Spreading the Word... This is the only company you should call for all your cooling/heating issues! They are simply “THE BEST IN BREVARD!!!” They have put in two systems for me in two of my homes and I am completely satisfied! I highly recommend them! They are honest, reliable, reasonable, and do outstanding work! The office staff and technicians are very friendly and they know what they are doing! I can’t say

enough about how satisfied I am with this company and their customer service. They are a family owned business and treat their customers like family, too! A+, 5 Stars. Call them, you will not be disappointed! Lisa A., Cocoa, FL 6/24/13

Installed new Amana 18 seer unit inside and out. All three guys showed up on time Very courteous and answered all questions. They changed all the copper tubing, drain, and thermostat wire that was running in a chase inside to the outside. Other contractors wanted to charge extra to change it. At the end they showed us how it should be maintained and what to look for. They gave us a 10-10-10 year guarantee while other contractors wanted to give a 10-1-1.

Brevard Cooling and Heating performed my annual warranty maintenance on my Temp-star AC Unit because the original company that did my installation had gone out of business. The technician arrived right on time and was very professional and courteous. During his inspection of the unit, he diagnosed two serious deficiencies in the unit’s operation that were causing the unit to run at very low efficiency. These deficiencies were the result of wiring errors made

I could not be happier! From my request for an estimate through installation, this company was awesome. The sales person was extremely knowledgeable and explained several options. The installation crew was top notch, very professional, on time and did an excellent job. Quality product, fair price, excellent service. I would highly recommend this company. - Ron G., Cocoa, FL 8/14/12

I was extremely pleased with this service and will definitely call upon this company again for any AC service issues. - Stephen H., Melbourne, FL 10/25/13

during its original installation two years ago. The technician took the time to explain the problems to me and made the necessary repairs at no additional charge. He then contacted the Temp-star company to verify that my unit had been properly registered for its warranty. The technician was very knowledgeable and highly professional.

There’s cool, and there’s efficiently cool. The Lennox XC25 is simply the best air conditioner available on the market today. It is the quietest and most efficient air conditioner available, and has a very high SEER rating. Factory rebates, rebates from Florida Power & Light, and federal tax incentives – coupled with an energy savings of up to 60% of your monthly electric bill – mean the XC25 can pay for itself in less than five years. Traditional air-conditioning units run on default settings low or high, and cannot vary their output rates beyond those two settings. The Lennox XC25 is the only air conditioner utilizing variable speed technology, using only

the amount of energy necessary to achieve the desired temperature. Just like an automobile increases its speed 1 mph to achieve your desired speed, the Lennox XC25 is the only air conditioner that increases its fan speed and output 1% at a time, until the desired temperature has been met. With the XC25’s ability to pay for itself in such a short time, matched with one of the best warranties on the market, the XC25 is the only choice in total comfort.
