A Mixed Media Holiday Wall Hanging Designed by Mona Pendleton cupcakescreations.blogspot.com

To create this mixed piece of holiday home décor, I started with a metal wall hanging measuring 10.24” W x 14” H.

I applied a base coat using Liquitex Gesso, (step not shown), once dry, I applied a coat of the following paint mixture: Liquitex Unbleached Titanium, Neutral Gray and Gesso.

!   Once paint is dry, using

the Crafter’s Workshop Brick 12” x 12” Doodling Template, randomly apply Golden Course Pumice Gel. Set aside to dry.

To create the weathered look on the door, I used a combination of Rock Salt, heidi swapp Color shine and Ranger Distress crackle paint. I was inspired by a a tutorial that may be found at http:// michellejbg.blogspot.com/. First I sprayed the wooden door using heidi swapp Tropicana Teal Color shine, while wet added rock salt. Once dry, remove rock salt, spray using heidi swapp Chartreuse Color shine followed with a coat of rock salt. Allow to dry.

To finish door, once it is dry, remove rock salt then apply a layer of Ranger Distress crackle paint and allow to dry.

Colorizing Die-namics die cuts

The following Die-namics dies were used to die cut thin cardboard: Die-namics: Jumbo Banner Day STAX, Star STAX, mini Tabs Foursome then sprayed using heidi swapp Color shine: Gold Lame, Chartreuse and Tinsel. The following Die-namics dies were used to die cut Pink Paislee City Sidewalks Story Time patterned paper: Die-namics Poinsettia and the bow from Die-namics Winter Wreath then sprayed using heidi swapp Color shine: Sweet Cherry. Other Die-namics used not shown are as follows: Die-namics: Medium Fancy Flourish and Large Leafy Flourish.

!

Once die cut / sprayed pieces are dry, assemble trees as follows then using MFT LJD Darling Dots, apply Gesso to stamp then randomly stamp on trees. Adhere Tinsel sprayed die cut to create bottom of topiary. (step not shown).

To create sentiment for wreath, using ‘Tis the Season sentiment from MFT Inspired By Christmas, stamp sentiment on die cut sentiment strip made using Die-namics Sentiment Strips die. Fold to create banner strip, adhere to die cut wreath made using Dienamics Winter Wreath die (step not shown).

!

Once brick wall has completely dried, align and place stencil over pumice bricks then randomly add color using the following sprays: Ranger Perfect Pearls Mists Cappuccino, Tattered Angels Cork and Ranger Adirondack Color Wash Espresso until desired look is achieved. Allow to dry.

To add even more texture and depth, once wall has dried, using MFT LJD Darling Dots, apply Gesso to to stamp then randomly stamp brick wall. Allow to dry.

!   Adhere door to wall

then assemble adhering all other die cut embellishments. Enjoy ď Š
