Suffolk Schools Cross Country Finals Programme

Page 1

Welcome to Culford School We are delighted to be hosting the final race of this year’s Suffolk Cross Country Trials. Culford is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for around 700 pupils aged from 2¾ to 18. Set in over 480 acres of beautiful Suffolk parkland, with a mansion house originally dating from the sixteenth century at its centre, the school makes a fantastic and memorable venue for sporting events and we are always pleased when the grounds are used by local sporting talent. Whilst 2015 has been a great year for Culford sport, the challenge of leaving a meaningful legacy continues to dominate the sporting landscape. Through the development of specialist sports programmes in hockey and rugby, and high performance programmes in tennis, swimming, cricket and golf at Culford, I am only too aware of the challenges of combining a first class academic education with a performance sports programme. Our tennis programme is a national leader, with our Year 10 boys’ team recently crowned National Champions, and our other sports are not far behind. At Culford, first class coaching is delivered on an individual basis, enhanced by specialised strength and conditioning and facilitated by a flexible approach to the sporting life of each child. Additional support through sports injury rehabilitation and nutritional guidance are all the key cornerstones of long term athletic success. I very much hope you enjoy your visit to Culford and that we will see the early strides of the next Kenenisa Bekele or Chrissie Wellington; if you would like to find out more about Culford please contact our Admissions Team on 01284 385308 or come to an Open Morning in March 2016. Individual visits are also welcome. For more information please go to www.culford.co.uk Most importantly, we hope that all competitors and their supporters enjoy the Cross Country Trials, achieve good results and enjoy their visit to our beautiful estate. You are very welcome, Julian Johnson-Munday MA MBA Headmaster

Welcome. Once you have parked please make your way to the white cricket pavilion to register and collect your number. Please remember that lessons are taking place at the School and respect our School day by keeping away from these areas. Portable facilities are available close to the pavilion. The course will be available from 9.30am. The course will be a new challenge and substantially different from previous rounds; you may well need to walk parts or all of your course and to study the new maps before the race. After this event, up to 16 runners will be chosen from each group to represent Suffolk at the Anglian Championships. These will take place in Lincolnshire (venue tbc) on Saturday 6th February 2016. If you come in the top 16 today then please inform Bruce Andrews of your name, contact details and race position as soon as possible by email: bruceandliz12@btinternet.com Good luck to all the competitors.
