Rising 2014-15 CSUN Athletics Annual Report
2014-15
Matador Family, It’s been an exceptional year. Matadors are continuing to rise in every sense of the word, both on and off the field of play. We honored 81 student-athletes at our annual Varsity N Academic Athletics Honor Roll event, the most ever, and our student-athletes were active volunteering in and around the CSUN community. We raised money to benefit Special Olympics, read to local elementary school students every week, collected pledges for the “It’s On Us” campaign and much more.
Our women’s basketball team won the Big West Conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. Our softball team also won the conference and advanced to the postseason, setting numerous records along the way. Women’s Track & Field also won the Big West and we sent seven men’s and women’s track & field student-athletes to the NCAA Championships. Three of our head coaches were named Big West Coach of the Year and numerous coaches represented our country in competition this year. Men’s Volleyball completed the season ranked 13th nationally, and Women’s Water Polo finished at No. 10.
Our athletics staff also continues to set the bar in the Big West Conference for athletic training, strength and conditioning, video production and the fan experience. I am proud to say that I am a Matador and proud of our many accomplishments this year. Please join me in celebrating our 19 athletic programs as we look back at the 2014-15 season.
