TIPS FOR LEARNING ONLINE Print out your syllabus It is easier to not miss important dates and details if you have a tangible syllabus on hand. Use the syllabus to map out your assignments on a calendar so that you don’t miss deadlines! Create a structured schedule for productivity Maximize efficiency by carving out time in your daily schedule to get work done. Creating a schedule and setting boundaries allows you to balance your priorities in a more effective way! Don’t be afraid to ask questions Having trouble understanding an assignment? Don’t be shy to ask your instructor for more explanation. Making a connection with your instructor will help him/her get to know you, which will positively affect your trajectory in the course. Connect with your classmates Use the discussion boards to make connections with your classmates! Making allies in an online course will help you feel more engaged as you work through the assignments. Organize your files Saving your assignments and documents in an efficient manner will make for easy retrieval. Even if the course is complete, you never know if you’ll need to use your work again in the future! UNDERSTANDING YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA Our instructor is the area's most knowledgeable camera guy, and he can help demystify your digital camera. In the morning, get acquainted with your controls and menus; then go outside and practice your new skills. Your photography will never be the same. This class is not part of our certificate program.s.

CAMERA LAB Modern digital cameras are amazingly complex pieces of machinery that require you to navigate a dazzling array of menu options, multi-function buttons and switches to operate, and the manufacturer's user manuals can be frustrating to use. This class will teach you the essential settings for your specific camera, train you to use those settings, and prepare you for Digital Photography I.

PHOTOGRAPHY ONLINE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIQUES There comes a time in your development as a photographer when all of your images seem pretty good, but you need the guidance of a more experienced photographer to take your work to the next level. Bring your images and have them critiqued by a PPA Judge and Master Photographer. You will gain insights into exposure, composition, lighting, posing and emotional impact as the instructor critiques your work and that of your classmates.

PHOTOSHOP: CREATING A COMPOSITE If you have ever wanted to combine more than one photograph in a single image, this class is for you. Learn to create a new document in Photoshop, then import 2-3 photos into that document and combine them using a variety of methods. This class isn't offered often, so don't miss this opportunity! For intermediate Photoshop users.

SUMMER 2O2O WATERCOLOR CRASH COURSE Brenda has developed a unique, condensed method of teaching so that anyone can experience the exciting medium of watercolor-- no drawing or previous painting experience is necessary! You will learn how to transfer one of the line drawings to your watercolor paper, how to mix primary colors to make all the colors for that painting, and basic watercolor techniques that can be used in any painting! Brenda’s demonstrations will walk you step by step through the entire process and--in just four hours--you will have the satisfaction of finishing a small painting to take home. ART ONLINE DRAWING CRASH COURSE! This four hour class serves as a great introduction to drawing if you're a beginner and a wonderful review if you've drawn before. Improve your observation skills and experience how drawing can become a time of meditation. Complete a series of exercises that focus on form, dimension, shading, and basic perspective. You will also be introduced to the intuitive world of artists with exercises from drawing on the right side of the brain.

Take the mystery out of the mystical orchid and learn how to cultivate your own beautiful orchid garden. This course will introduce the Orchidaceae family and its most commonly cultivated hobby plants, the Phalaenopsis, or “moth orchid." We will teach you the science behind orchid care, including proper temperature, light, and use of fertilizer, as well as demonstrate orchid culture, repotting, and watering. Gain a better understanding of how to care for this gorgeous plant and leave with the knowhow required to conduct thoughtful research to cultivate your orchid own collection.
