Home-stay 1 Living arrangements in Granada are “home-stays.” Students live with Spanish families in small flats that are just a 10-minute walk from school. During our visit Pepita pictured below spoke to Katie in Spanish, Kirsty in Italian, and me in English. She’s a warm, generous woman who is dearly loved by her student tenants.

Pepita’s living-dining room.
In this room, students are served breakfast and dinner prepared by Pepita. On the left you see soft seating for relaxing, conversing, and watching TV.
This prominently displayed “alter” is in honor and remembrance of Pepita´s daughter who died at 17 in a car accident in Paris.

ALHAMBRA is Granada's greatest landmark. Alhambra, literally 'the red' in Arabic, was home to the Moorish monarchs and is an outstanding example of Islamic architecture. It is visible atop this hill.

Granada is a small town with buses and taxies, but no metro. It appears the predominant means of transportation is walking, with mopeds coming in at a close second!
Mopeds, a bus, and walkers pass by the NH Hotel, built at the end of the 19th century.
