Nonprofit and Volunteer Organizations Mission: The Veteran Trauma Court provides jail diversion services to U.S. military veterans who are facing lower felony charges in the Fourth Judicial District, Colorado, directly linking eligible veterans to treatment services that will support their recovery from a range of trauma spectrum disorders connected to their military service. One unique component of this pilot program is the Peer Specialist Program. Peer Specialists are U.S. military veterans who volunteer to act as a mentor and provide one-on-one support to VTC program participants. The Peer Specialist Program provides a unique and rewarding opportunity for volunteers – the opportunity to make a powerful difference in the lives of other veterans and have a positive impact on our community.
