GENERAL INFORMATION Geographic position Croatia occupies the largest part of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea which, as a part of the Mediterranean Sea, penetrates deepest into European soil. Croatia’s shoreline and numerous islands enjoy the majority of the Adriatic coastline. The narrow Dinara Mountain Range separates the country’s Mediterranean region from its Central European continental part, which spans from the easterly edges of the Alps in the North-West to the shores of the Danube in the East, encompassing the southern part of the fertile Pannonian lowlands.

The total number of persons included in the List of Persons cannot exceed double capacity plus 30% of the unit capacity of the vessel. The capacity of the vessel is defined according to the vessel’s documentation as issued by the competent authorities of the country under whose flag the vessel sails, and if the vessel’s documentation does not contain information about the capacity, the same shall be calculated in accordance with the Book of Rules on Boats and Yachts and the Rules and Regulations for the Statutory Certification of Boats and Yachts. If the List is completed later on, each addition must be verified in the Harbour Master’s Office or its branch office. The number of changes of persons included in the List of Persons is unlimited. The List of Persons does not include persons staying on a vessel only while the vessel is staying in a port or at anchor. The List of Persons does not include children less than 12 years of age, and they are not included in the maximum number of persons. Registration of residence All foreigners entering the Republic of Croatia on a foreign vessel intended for sports and recreation, who intend to use that vessel for accommodation, must register their residence in the Republic of Croatia exclusively in the port or harbour in which they undergo border control. If a foreigner crosses the State border at one of the road border crossings and is transporting the vessel they intend to stay on, the marina where the vessel will be launched registers the residence. If the vessel is launched in a small port, the visitor must personally register their residence at the police station in authority of the territory. These regulations apply exclusively to vessels on which the foreigner will be accommodated.

FOOD AND DRINK Where to eat?

What to drink?

Apart from hotels offering both full board and half board accommodation, restaurants, inns, taverns, wine cellars, pizzerias and fast-food restaurants can be found in all cities, tourist towns and along the main roads. Restaurants and inns offering local Croatian cuisine will be of particular interest to gourmets. All foods of animal origin are subject to the same standards as in countries of the European Union and are under constant veterinary and health supervision.

The cultivation of grapes and production of select wines is a centuries-old tradition among Croatian viticulturists both in continental Croatia and the Primorje area (the littoral), and Dalmatia. Some of the best known varieties of Croatian red wines along the Adriatic coast and on the islands are: Dingač, Teran, Merlot, Cabernet, Opolo, Plavac and Postup, while the most appreciated of the white wine varieties are: Malvasia, Pošip, Pinot, Kujundžuša, Žlahtina and Muscat. In continental parts, one can enjoy the famous Riesling, Graševina, Burgundy, Traminac and other wines. As far as spirits go, the most famous are the šljivovica or plum brandy, travarica, lozovača and biska, while among dessert drinks there are Prošek and Maraschino.

What to eat? In addition to standard European cuisine, Croatia offers its most popular local dishes and specialties. Among cold dishes, there are the renowned Dalmatian or Istrian prosciuttos, cheeses from the island of Pag and the Lika region, sheep’s cheese, Slavonian kulen (a spicy cured pork meat speciality), the renowned garlic sausages (češnjovka) of Samobor and the Zagorje region, fresh cottage cheese with cream, and more. The main dishes on offer vary depending on the area that you are visiting. In Dalmatia, the Primorje coastal area,
