La Crosse, WI The 7th annual Earth Fair will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 11 am to 5 pm, at the Myrick Park and Myrick Park Center and hosted by Coulee Partners for Sustainability, La Crosse Public Library, La Crosse Area Family YMCA and the Earth Fair Committee. This free family event will have many activities for everyone and will include childrenʼs crafts, first-of-theseason farmers market, outdoor tours, green workshops, including Lead Shot Problems in Waterfowl presented by Jim Nissen, former La Crosse District Manager for the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, and Lead Contamination in the Marsh presented by Colin Belby, Ph.D., Geography and Earth Science, UW-La Crosse. Demonstrations include cooking demonstrations and square foot gardening displays by Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare, Monarch Butterfly and Milkweed Seeds display by the La Crosse Public Library, as well as over 70 “green” vendors, including a new “Healing Arts Room” featuring herbal health, essential oils, massage therapy, reiki, chiropractic wellness, yoga and more! 1

There will also be a live raptor demonstration, a concert by popular children's singer Hans Mayer and live music and food vendors. Door prizes will be given throughout the day along with a Grand Green Prizes drawing towards the end of the day, including: Two chances to win free two-week use of a Honda advanced fuel vehicle from Honda Motorw毛rks (including fuel); free Organic Valley products for a year; and a child始s bicycle from Bikes Limited. A bike valet will be provided for bikers and free bike inspections and mini tune-ups provided by Bikes Limited (bikers also get five chances to win $50 from Schilling Supply Company!). The first 300 attendees receive a reusable bag from Fowler & Hammer!

YMCA Earth Day Dash/Healthy Kids Day Presented by Schneider Heating & Air Conditioning The Earth Day Dash will begin at 10:30 am with children starting 30 seconds apart (young ones can go with parent through the race). There will be 6 stations to be completed, with each station requiring participation before continuing on. Children can run the race anytime between 10:30 and 11:00. Registration for the dash is required and is free. Registration forms can be picked up at YMCA La Crosse and YMCA Onalaska or downloaded online at laxymca.org and turned in to the front desk at either Y location. Recycling Fair The annual Recycling Fair will be held nearby at Emerson Elementary School from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, hosted by Firefighters Credit Union. Free electronics recycling for households – sponsored by Dynamic Recycling – cell phones, stereos, DVD & VCR players, TVs (first two TVs free, additional TVs $5 each), computers and other small electronics (no appliances, thermostats, or smoke detectors). (Go to www.earthfairlacrosse.com for a listing of electronics accepted). Also have your confidential documents shredded – sponsored by Confidential Records and the La Crosse Public Library. Bring a non-perishable food item for WAFER Food Pantry.

Why: The Coulee Regionʼs environment deserves our focus Green Drinks is an international concept with gatherings all over the world. There are several gatherings in Wisconsin. This is the first in La Crosse. There are no dues, fees, agenda, board, minutes, attendance or programs. We hope you will find a lively mixture of people with similar interest in environmental health and learn new ideas as well. A calendar of upcoming events will provide an opportunity to choose areas of interest. Pay for a drink, stay for the conversation.

The La Crosse Public Library and Coulee Partners for Sustainability are pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Earth Fair poster contest. Approximately 100 entries were submitted with judging done by UW-La Crosse Art Education Methods students. The top three winners will receive their prizes at the Earth Fair at 12:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, at the Myrick Park Center. The first-place poster will be showcased that day in the program schedule. All poster entries will be displayed at the Earth Fair. The first place winner is Jack Gauger, 5th grade, from Blessed Sacrament. Jack will receive a bicycle from Smithʼs Cycling & Fitness. The second place winner is Evan Voigt, 3rd grade, from Summit Environmental School. Evan will receive a single, 1-hour, private lesson for four children from Generous Earth Pottery and All Glazed Up! The third place winner is Maddison Prew, 4th grade, from Summit Environmental School. Maddison will receive a $50 gift card from Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. Congratulations Jack, Evan and Maddison! This event is also sponsored by La Crosse County Library.

It’s Time to Clean-up the Marsh

Spring Cleaning of the marsh will be Saturday April 25th from 9-1 PM and will encompass the marsh area from La Crosse St to West Avenue to Gillette to Hwy 16 and include the skate park. People should dress for the weather, weʼll have disposable plastic gloves and bags. Sign in will be at the gun shelter and assignments will be given there. A container will be provided for disposal of any and all garbage at the park Spring Cleaning Day is sponsored in partnership with Coulee Partners for Sustainability (CPS), Wisconsin Youth Conservation Corps Inc. (WisCorps), La Crosse River Marsh Coalition, and La Crosse County Solid Waste Department.
