Team-building for Leaders While our learn-by-doing approach to education helps students gain practical career skills, our philosophy also allows students to acquire another set of intangible, but essential, skills. Most hands-on lessons are experienced in a collaborative environment, enabling students to learn how to work as a team with people from diverse backgrounds. Students also learn when and how to lead, an essential component to career advancement. Signature Experiences Involving Teamwork Student teams compete in the U.S. Collegiate Cyber Defense

Competition in which they protect a computer network from a group of hackers. The competition is organized by the Computer Information Systems Department and is held at Cal Poly Pomona. Student teams from the American Marketing Association compete

in business case and sales competitions against students from across the country. In our Poly Presents class, business and engineering students work

together to introduce new high-tech merchandise into the marketplace beginning with product development and culminating in marketing and promotion. Â Signature Experiences Involving Leadership Development Our student-run clubs provide leadership roles in areas such as

marketing, event planning and budgeting. Students can network with executives about leadership through

club meetings, our Executive Speaker Series and other collaborative projects. The National Society of Leadership and Success provides

opportunities for business students to learn about leadership from nationally recognized figures in the business and entertainment industries.
