Intercollegiate Athletics represents our alumni and friends of the university through positive notoriety and visibility in the community. The Bronco Athletics Club (BAC) is the fundraising, fan and support organization of Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics. The Bronco Athletics Club plays a key role in the growth of the university’s outstanding student-athletes and intercollegiate athletic programs. By becoming a member of the Bronco Athletics Club, you are supporting our commitment to investing in the resources needed for our student-athletes to pursue their aspirations and achieve unprecedented team and individual successes. The Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics Department funds generate financial support to assist with program expenses such as scholarships, academic services, life-skills development, team travel, operational costs, and recruiting efforts. Our student-athletes perform at the highest level in the classroom, competition, and community service.


WAYS TO GIVE Gifts to Bronco Athletics All gifts to Bronco Athletics directly support the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Gifts may be designated to individual sports’ scholarships or operations, the overall athletics scholarship fund or endowments. Cash Donations Cash gifts to Bronco Athletics can be made through checks payable to the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation or by using your MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover card. Payment plan and pledge options are available. Payment Plans Want to make an impact, but need to make it work within your budget? Payment plans are available. You may choose to have automatic payments give weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually or annually. Securities and Non-Cash Assets You may give securities and non-cash assets to Bronco Athletics. Securities and non-cash assets include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, life insurance, collectibles or other securities. You may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable donation for gifts of long-term appreciated securities. Matching Gifts Many employers will match the charitable contributions made by their current or retired employees. This is an easy way to double or even triple your gift. Gifts-in-kind Bronco Athletics accepts gifts of items or service (food, beverage, athletic equipment, air travel, etc) that would normally be purchased to reduce expenses and are always welcome! The gifts are subject to University approval and IRS regulations and the value of the gifts is credited to your account.

Endowments – “Forever Green and Gold” Endowments are an excellent way to ensure the continued support of Bronco Athletics in perpetuity. Each year, earned interest from the endowment supports the program(s) specified by the donor and the principal is reinvested. An endowed scholarship can be in your name or that or a loved one. Naming Opportunities Bronco Athletics has many naming opportunities. You may choose to name an area after yourself, your company or a loved one.

2011-12 BRONCO highlights STUDENT

ATHLETE

Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) named 24 Broncos as Academic Achievement Award honorees after the maintained a grade point average above 3.5.

Five All-Americans were named during 2011-12, including (pictured from top to bottom): Megan Ford, Luis Gonzalez, Tiffany Dinh, Geoff Broussard and Jacob Deavers.

California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) 2011-12 All-Academic Team features 41 Broncos, with each of CPP’s 10 intercollegiate teams being represented on the list.

Six of the Broncos’ 10 teams advanced to the postseason. The baseball team narrowly missed the playoffs but in going 31-18, they notched the program’s best winning percentage (.633) since 1983.

Rosslyn Beard of women’s basketball and Michelle Nava of women’s soccer were selected to receive NCAA Division II Degree-Complete Awards. Valerie Strawn of women’s soccer and Clark Selters of cross country and track and field received the department’s Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year accolades. The Broncos succeeded in their community service efforts, helping organizations such as Make-a-Wish and KidCare.

Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball started the season on an eight-game winning streak and reached the NCAA Tournament for the thirdstraight season. Mitchel Anderson of the men’s basketball team sank a lastsecond three-quarter court shot in double overtime to lift the Broncos to a wild win at Kellogg Gym in the regular season finale. The crazy shot quickly became the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
