Charger Beat By STEVE HOLT Special to The Leader FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK … The ACT state testing date is March 15 and every high school junior across the state of Tennessee will participate. Every junior student has been preparing for the test all year long. It is our hope that each student will score well; will meet his/her prediction and that each will score well enough to show that they have the capability to be successful at college or university. CHS has tutoring available if your son or daughter wants a little extra help between now and March 15. Students with holes in their pants have become a problem on campus so we are strictly enforcing the “no-hole” policy of the county school board. We are asking students with holes in their pants to call home for an appropriate pair of pants and then we are giving those students detention to attempt to curb this problem. After our message system called home, we have seen great improvement in this issue. We thank you for your help. It has made a difference. Our other area of concern is the use of phones within the school building. As you are aware, there is a board policy prohibiting the use of cell phones within the schools. We are following the policy by taking up the phone for nine (9) weeks if the student is observes talking or texting on the phone. PLEASE help us with enforcement of this policy by asking your sin/ daughter to refrain from using the phone during school hours. Finally, we have been working hard to master the skills needed for the upcoming End of Course examinations. Our first EOC is scheduled for May 3. Please check with your student(s) to see if he/she needs any tutoring for any of these mandated final exams. Tutoring is available Monday-Friday from 3-5 for almost every subject. Students only have to come to Mr.Heaston’s class for assistance. Once they come, he will direct them to the appropriate tutor. Thanks for helping us to help your child. Peggy B.
