LEAVE YOUR

LEGACY

“I GIVE, DEVISE, AND BEQUEATH...” With these simple words, every member of our church family has the opportunity to build on Incarnation’s exceptional history by making a planned gift today through your last will and testament. You can leave a specific dollar amount, asset, or percentage of your residual estate to the church’s ministries through the Incarnation Foundation. Some of our parishioners have designated 10% of the residue of their estates to the Incarnation Foundation, leaving a tithe of their estates as their spiritual legacies. Stepping out in faith, without knowing the ultimate amount of one’s legacy, acknowledges God as our ultimate provider and ensures a chosen percentage of your life’s material blessings will be used for His Kingdom’s work.

STEWARDSHIP IS A WAY OF LIFE. It is rooted in our faith in God’s abundant love, grace, and provision. It is our expression of thankfulness that acknowledges God’s ultimate gift of His Son for our salvation. We are called to use the gifts God has given us — our talents, resources, and lives— to feed His sheep and to further His kingdom.

While you have given of your income during your lifetime, The Incarnation Foundation serves to assist you in administering your financial gifts that outlast even life’s end. Many parishioners have made gifts from their wills to The Incarnation Foundation. Some have left bequests of their wills, leaving cash, securities, and real estate. Others have used life insurance policies, IRAs, or retirement plans. Whatever the vehicle, each has created a lasting legacy of thankfulness. By combining your philanthropic giving with tax and other financial strategies, you can play a critical role in extending God’s work at Incarnation beyond your lifetime. Since the first recorded planned gift from the estate of Asa Smith Bowley in 1929, we have received gifts through wills that continue to enable us to help fun the highest needs and dreams of our church. Since the Foundation’s inception in 1988, it has grown these assets to over $12M. Each year, income generated by the Foundation’s assets support specific church ministries like our music and youth programs, outreach missions, and clergy assistance, to name a few. SEE THE FOUNDATION’S WEBSITE FOR SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE.

GIFTS OF RETIREMENT ASSETS

Retirement assets like IRAs, 401(k)s, or life insurance plans can also be used to leave your legacy to the church. These assets can be subject to double taxation upon your death (income and estate tax) if given to heirs, resulting in the majority of the asset potentially going to pay taxes. Retirement assets given to The Incarnation Foundation will pass tax-free, leaving the entire asset for our church’s ministries.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE You can transfer ownership of an existing life insurance policy to benefit our church’s future ministries by naming The Incarnation Foundation as owner and beneficiary of the policy, potentially receiving immediate income tax benefits as well as future estate tax benefits from this gift. Alternatively, you can name The Incarnation Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, while maintaining the policy ownership. This gift may also provide future estate tax benefits. SEE THE FOUNDATION’S WEBSITE FOR SIMPLE STEPS TO LEAVE A LEGACY WITH RETIREMENT ASSETS OR INSURANCE.

PLANNED GIFTS THAT PROVIDE INCOME Establishing charitable trusts or other planned gift vehicles can offer you an income stream and other benefits during your lifetime, while creating a future gift for our church and providing future estate tax benefits.
