Working with some of Australia’s best photographers and stylists, I have led teams of designers to produce some of the most beautiful work published for some of Australia’s most prestigious publishing brands. Food and lifestyle has been the main subject covered in most of my jobs along with gardening, interior, architecture, women’s lifestyle and children’s wellbeing. Clever design and tremendous work efficiency with the ability to think laterally and big picture has given me great successes so far in my career. I am looking to expand my current role as Creative Director for ACP Books with a view to moving overseas and would like the opportunity to discuss what possibilities there might be for someone such as myself. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Hieu Nguyen email freelancecreativedirector@gmail.com for a more detailed resumé and an online showcase of my work

Starset Design Designer My first job working in a graphic design studio. It wasn’t long into the job before I was given the scope to work independently designing brochures, annual reports and corporate identity. Working under a brilliant Art Director gave me great experience on effective ways of working including dealing with clients and a detailed knowledge of the printing industry. 1998-2001 Australian Gourmet Traveller & The Wine Magazine Art Director I did my cadet on both these titles starting as Design Assistant when I was 20 then becoming Deputy Art Director after one year. I was promoted to the position of Art Director in my third year at 23 after the successful relauch of Australian Gourmet Traveller at the end of 1999. After four years I was approached by Australian House & Garden to become their Art Director. 2001-2002 Simplylite Magazine Creative Director Upon news of my leaving Gourmet Traveller to join Australian House & Garden, my publisher offered me the position to redesign Simplylite Magazine - a title that covered food, fitness and wellbeing for the health-conscious 20-50 year old woman. This position coincided with my appointment as Creative Director for ACP Books which was also under the same publishing group in the company. 2002-present ACP Books Creative Director ACP Magazines have had a long standing business called The Australian Womens Weekly Home Library. As the third most profitable business in the company and one of the largest publisher of cookbooks in the world (more than 70 millions cookbooks sold to date) ACP Magazines wanted to expand the business, changing its name to ACP Books and appointing me as Creative Director to oversee the changes. As well as food, ACP Books now covers a wealth of subjects that include gardening, home decorating and design, architecture, health, women’s lifestyle, and children’s wellbeing. ACP Books continues to be one of ACP Magazine’s great successes with some of our most recent titles being the bestselling in the company’s history. A couple of our most recent successes include a 688pp cooking bible “COOK: How To Cook Absolutely Everything” selling more than 160,000 copies since its first release in 2007 followed by another 688pp book “1000 Best-ever Recipe From AWW” released in December 2008 and selling 22,000 copies in its first 5 weeks. contact
