JDPS Unveils New Power Rating for PowerTech 9.0L

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) introduced a new generator drive Tier III emergency stationary power rating for its PowerTech E 9.0L diesel engine at POWER-GEN International 2010, Dec. 14 to 16 in Orlando, Fla. The new power rating for the PowerTech E 9.0L, 6090HFG86, is 345 kWm at 1,800 rpm. This rating offers customers a competitive advantage with a key power node of 300 kWe standby power in a 9.0L displacement, according to the manufacturer. The 345 kWm rating at 1,800 rpm currently is available in the JDPS lineup with a PowerTech Plus 13.5L, but the new PowerTech E 9.0L engine offers increased power density in a smaller package. This rating extends the PowerTech E 9.0L power range from 229 to 315 kWm to 229 to 345 kWm for emergency standby applications in the United States and Canada. The PowerTech E 9.0L features a fixedgeometry turbocharger, high-pressure common-rail fuel system, 4-valve cylinder head, The new power rating for the PowerTech E 9.0L, 6090HFG86, is 345 kWm at 1,800 air-to-air aftercooling and full-authority rpm. electronic controls, compact size and

increased power density. The engine offers quick-starting and clean-running performance for emergency standby gen-set applications. โ€œPowerTech E technology is ideal for emergency stationary gen-set applications, delivering performance optimized for these applications and superior block-loading capability in every operating condition,โ€ said Vincenzo Perrone, power generation business manager of JDPS. โ€œThe new 9.0L rating offers customers exceptional competitive advantage with increased power density in a compact size, allowing for more installation flexibility.โ€ John Deereโ€™s full lineup of generatordrive engines includes non-emissions certified; European Union Stage II and Stage III A; and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier I, II, III and Interim Tier IV models ranging from 2.4L to 13.5L of displacement and covering gen-set ratings from 42 to 634 hp (31 to 473 kW). Hyster Company Unveils Next Generation of Electric Lift Truck Hyster Company has unveiled its next generation of electric lift trucks. The new Hyster E30-40XN series delivers lifting capacities of 3,000 to 4,000 lbs. (1,361 to 1,814 kg) and offers significant performance and versatility for a wide variety of material handling applications. โ€œThe E30-40XN series is one of the most operator-friendly ACpowered lift trucks in the world,โ€ said Brett Schemerhorn, vice president of dealer sales, Hyster Company. โ€œIt sets a new standard in electric lift trucks by lowering overall operating costs and energy consumption while maximizing productivity. You can count on this workhorse to get the job done.โ€ The series includes: โ€ข newly designed, operator compartments โ€ข sixteen percent more floor space โ€ข relocated multifunction dis-

plays that ensure enhanced visibility and precise pallet control โ€ข improved brake pedal layout โ€ข auto deceleration system, which reduces operator fatigue โ€ข steel hood that provides for maximum battery service access By utilizing AC motors and transistor controller technology for both the traction and hydraulic systems, Hyster has reduced the frequency and cost of maintenance. The Hyster-designed thermal management system continuously monitors the E30-40XN seriesโ€™ controller and motor temperature and, upon identifying irregularity, the system protects the component by automatically adjusting truck performance, according to the manufacturer. According to the VDI Energy Cycle Standardized Test, the E3040XN series consumes the lowest amount of energy when compared to similar lift trucks. As an addi-

tional benefit to reducing the environmental impact, better energy utilization results in increased savings and return on investment. โ€œThis is a tough, smart and purpose-built lift truck,โ€ Schemerhorn said. โ€œItโ€™s what you expect from Hyster.โ€ About Hyster Company Based in Greenville, N.C., Hyster Company offers 130 models configured for gasoline, LPG, diesel and electric power, with a capacity range from 2,000 to 115,000 lbs. Hyster Company is an operating division of NACCO Materials Handling Group Inc. (NMHG), which employs approximately 4,500 people worldwide. NMHG is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of NACCO Industries Inc. (NYSE:NC).

The Hyster E30-40XN series delivers lifting capacities of 3,000 to 4,000 lbs. (1,361 to 1,814 kg).
