The Practice

Considered design inc is a studio based design practice specialising in the creation of landscape defined by the process of conceiving, detailing, constructing and enjoying. Our approach is determined not by any particular aesthetic or style but by each project bringing with it new opportunities to explore a continuously evolving vocabulary of ideas. For us landscape architecture is a language that is spatial, elemental and complex. Innovation is the vehicle for us to find new ways of reading, understanding and making.

Westfiefld Shopping Centre, 1.62m sq feet retail experience including cinema, food courts, luxury stores and delux shopping. The landscape design concept centers on various references to historic streams and watercourses that formerly ran through the site. Metaphorically, in the form of a water feature, this stream still flows through the public spaces appearing along and in various pedestrian areas. 1.1

Case Study 6.0 Rennie Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC.

considered design inc/ public realm case studies

The design concept for the Rennie Art Gallery Roof Garden seeks to provide a high quality open space integrating seamlessly with the Wing Sang building and its surrounding environment. The design evolved from initial ideas balancing the constraints and opportunities unique to this project. The Integration of these concepts within the buildings heritage results in a small palette of carefully chosen materials. The garden becomes a recessive backdrop contrasting the frenetic city and is employed as a foil to the permanently displayed art collection.

The landscape treatment for 2211 Cambie Street is intended to be both abundant and complimentary to the contemporary architectural composition. With in the envelope of the building the landscape design provides a series of vignettes arranged in both plan and section.
