reedom & Unity… not only is this the Vermont state motto but those two simple words have a huge impact on what the LGBT community is seeking. In the past three months, we have connected with people as close as Vermont and as far as South Africa, all seeking a way to unite with each other in the same strife for our freedom in the struggle for equality. During our travels to Vermont for this issue, we encountered one day of beautiful blue skies and white falling snow throughout the Killington Mountains, and the very next day we enjoyed the warmth of 65 degree weather without a cloud in the sky. What could be better than New England seasons that change from a winter wonderland to spring sunshine within 24 hours? We met with Aaron Black, General Manager of the Topnotch Resort & Spa in Stowe, Vermont. The hospitality displayed by Aaron, Kathy and the other team members at Topnotch was first rate! During conversations, Aaron made mention of their local newspaper, The Stowe Reporter. Most notably, the ‘police blotter’ section. Now, to some of you this section may not seem out of the ordinary but as we are visiting from New York, we found the section to be extremely intriguing. Here is an example of what you will read in The Stowe Reporter ‘police blotter:’

March 25, at 9:13 p.m., a car was reported driving erratically on Barrows Road. Police couldn’t find the vehicle.

March 24, at 11:45 a.m., police shooed away a raccoon at the sewage-treatment plant on River Road.

I don’t think we need to tell you that the New York ‘police blotter’ section is a bit different! This issue also features exclusive insight into the annual Mr. Gay World competition; an understanding of the bisexual community; a look at lesbian superstar Lori Michaels; the dot429 social media revolution; and highlights from the GayfestNYC Gala.

Connecting the dots the new professional perspective: how to be yourself and successful in the social media age

C

oming out shouldn't be a career-killer. But many talented professionals are reluctant to disclose personal information at work and online for fear they might be fired or rejected by prospective employers. Now there's a social network that wants to change all of that. dot429 was launched just under two years ago with a global mission to bring LGBT professionals together with their workforce allies. But discrimination remains a challenge, and for better or worse, LGBT professionals don't live in a bubble. New York City-based social media strategist Christopher de la Torre caught up with CEO Richard Klein, VP of Business Development Ryan Young, and Founding Member Pichet Ong, to see what dot429 plans to do about it.

Richard Klein CEO

Connextions: How is dot429 connecting LGBT and Ally professionals around the world? Richard Klein: dot429 caters to the LGBT community, providing a safe space for out employees to connect for potential job opportunities, network on behalf of clients---even find like-minded friends. We strive to enhance the reputation of the LGBTA community. Essentially, we look to break down stereotypes that potentially limit the success and career growth of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender professionals. As the "face of gay" changes and people are exposed to more LGBT professionals, an environment will exist where we can be viewed as equal in the workplace, employment decision-making, and life in general. Ryan Young: By having all of us connect we can work openly and support one another. Centralizing our own power base in order to circumvent homophobia in business is exactly the thing that makes us able to work openly and add multiplicative value to each other's careers.

Ryan Young VP of Business Devel opment

Pichet Ong: Sometimes it's not easy to bring your whole self to work. This can be especially true if you're LGBT. Fear of getting fired, of not advancing or being rejected by co-workers or clients. Uneasiness about drawing attention to part of yourself you feel might make others uncomfortable. But not being open holds you, your company, and the broader community back. Allowing yourself to be who you are makes you better at what you do. It builds stronger relationships with your co-workers and clients. It makes your business stronger. And it makes us all understand each other better. Connextions: Would it be opportunistic of me to say I like dot429 so much that I’m (almost) ready to leave LinkedIn?

Pichet Ong Founding Member

Ryan Young: There are many ways to connect professionally online. We add tighter connections within the LGBT community, as well as conferences and events that other groups don’t offer. Smaller networks best serve segments of our community and provide much needed services. Our idea is that if we can connect as many smaller groups and businesses as possible the multiplicative power of professional relationships will take our community to a greater level of power and equality.

Richard Klein: LinkedIn is a fantastic site, but dot429 adds a unique resource to the LGBT professional’s networking kit. It’s the ultimate destination to network, connect and engage with other LGBTA professionals. It bridges and connects the LGBTA community with professionals, while also offering editorial that’s pertinent to our member base. Connextions: Privacy is all the rage these days. How does dot429 protect the privacy interests of its members? Ryan Young: Currently, member profiles aren’t public. We’ll offer the option to make them public, but the default setting will always be private. We want to highlight the fact that we also have members who aren’t LGBT but allies. We’re just as protective of their information and will never give access to any partner when it comes to a member’s information. We’re dedicated to education and highlighting what’s happening in the community, but won’t share or sell member information. Connextions: The holy trinity of social media marketing: apps, plug-ins, partners. What types of features can we look forward to? Pichet Ong: dot429 is already very integrated with other social networks. Members can instantly import their profile information from LinkedIn or Facebook to create a full profile. Members can also share updates and other original content simultaneously on LinkedIn, Facebook and/or Twitter. Ryan Young: We work in each geographic area to tailor exactly what partners need. We're also very interested in giving back. That's why we've partnered with GLADD, NewFest and other LGBT-geared organizations by sponsoring them and donating event proceeds to charity. We're always looking for new ways to grow, new people to work with and charitable partners. We also work to promote our members within the community and look forward to developing a phone app and exploring plug-ins. Connextions: What are the differences between dot429's regular and premium accounts? Ryan Young: Regular accounts create a presence on dot429 whereas premium members can access any information on the site. Premium members also receive discounts on events. We'll be developing additional special features for premium members as we move forward.

Connextions: Does dot429 improve on things that work well for other professional networking sites? Richard Klein: We connect our members online, but also in person. Our new profile page allows users to share who they are, what they do, and promote themselves and their clients. And we continue to roll out more features that heighten the possibilities for networking, such as our marketplace job listing area, and events across the country. Ryan Young: We also work with associations and chambers in each community to ensure that we are helping them increase their networking ability. We've worked tirelessly to help one another make important connections locally, regionally and globally. This model of open networking and supporting each other through dot429, improves careers and strengthens the community. And that only adds to our success. Pichet Ong: dot429's profile platform provides richer information about you, including visuals, and gives you the opportunity to show not just what you've done, but what your passions are, what drives you and what you're currently thinking about or working on. We have great original content on 429Magazine and 429TV, and we're just getting started. "Connect, engage, discover, inspire" are the words that motivate every feature we roll out. Connextions: Word has it that dot429 will soon have university pages for students and alumni to engage and network. How else will you assist recent LGBT graduates? Pichet Ong: We're in the process of building a few programs. The first is a robust mentoring platform. Many of our founding members have expressed interest in mentoring through dot429 and we've had interest from our other members as well. We want dot429 to be a place of inspiration and empowerment. There's a lot on the horizon that will allow for really creative ways to share content within the dot429 community and externally. Stay tuned.

n July 16, 2010 at the Hartness House Inn in Vermont, the lives of Toni Anderson and Nekita Lotus Anderson were changed forever. There was no question what the answer would be when Toni proposed marriage in September 2008, but there was the question of where this wedding would take place… Toni and Nekita reside in Dothan Alabama, so in order to unite, a road trip was in their future. After the 22 hour drive, the couple arrived in Springfield, Vermont. “We picked Vermont because there was no waiting period, and since most of our time was going to be spent on the road, it was a better choice than Boston, which has a three day waiting period, plus the Hartness House Inn has wedding packages which made the planning super stress free!” The intimate ceremony and romantic three day adventure, which included an exhibit at the Miller Art Center, and a tour of Wood’s Cider Mill to bring home some famous Vermont Maple Syrup, made memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations Toni and Nekita!

urviving in this world is difficult enough. Sometimes it is near impossible to just take care of ourselves in life. I can remember being so financially strapped that all I could afford was eggs and bread. For weeks on end it was all we ate. I would often come home to find the garbage can knocked over and trash ripped to shreds all over the kitchen floor with scattered pieces of eggshells delicately licked clean. It was heart breaking that this animal I loved so much was always just as hungry as me. Two eggs and two slices of toast for us each, twice a day, was what we were living on. I was not sure how long that would keep both of us sustained, but it was working for the most part. If this kept up much longer, there was only one thing to do, the right thing to do. I would sit and wonder how it was I was going to keep each of us going. We relied on one another. He relied on me for the basics of life, and I relied on the comfort of his unconditional love and devotion, no matter how hard the times were. It was my responsibility to ensure his quality of life was substantial, and the only right thing to do was to find him a home where he could be fed. Through tear filled eyes the thoughts of not having my closest companion and dearest friend with me became reality with having to make the second most difficult decision in a pet-owners life, the first goes without saying. Trying not to look into his eyes as I turned to walk away from his new home, I knew he would be loved as much as I loved him, but letting him go was the right thing.

A Network forBisexual Visibility I n 2005 I came back from a two year job in

Japan and started to notice in the gay and lesbian community that there was a lot of negativity regarding bisexuals—more so than I realized before. I have felt a part of the community since 1991 just out of university and I had many friends who were gay or lesbian. But something changed when I returned from Japan, I began to realize that I didn’t really have a bar, or a place to go to that I could meet men and women who were like myself...bisexuals who understood me. It started to get old, telling others in a community who should love you unconditionally, that you are bisexual. There were a lot of really? I thought you were…” fill in the blank, I started to notice it more. A 26-year-old friend at the time, who was bisexual in the gay community, said they never believed he was in fact bi. We continuously talked about it, what we needed to do... start a group, a site, an event…but at the time, I was on a 12-year old course of Information Technology lockdown with my career. In 2008, I remember being at a cross roads and how I wanted to shape and control my life. I needed to move into a different direction as far as my career went and wanted to work more in social media, and web content. I already left an insane work environment, not knowing I would be at the heart of an economic down turn, caught up in Chicago’s lack of jobs for the middle class—out of the ashes of several months of deep lost and I suppose depression, I woke up literally, with an idea, “Why isn’t there any bisexual news and stories in our community?” In a self-growth moment, the idea of bisexual content on the web was born in November of 2008. Three months later my long time writer Maria York, came on board and has been a great support along with Adam Border and other writers past and present.

Understanding the B At the time, there was a hand full of bisexual sites with bisexual flags and the same colors that translated into our color wheel of purple, pink and blue. Being in the communication design world, I craved to correct. Design, content, passion and a database for the community! I desired to meet other bisexuals, not just in a local market but nationally and internationally. What if we could truly be a hub for bisexuals to connect, get news, information, entertainment along with social media components like radio, forums, chat—a total network. I found out by personal live discussions, visitors, letters, comments and writers that what was lacking was not activism, as there are many sites all over the web regarding politics. I wanted something new, different, and well-rounded. I sought to entertain, connect with others, and discuss important

bisexual topics and especially for others to feel truly themselves and safe on our site—no biphobia comments, no hating the term bisexual, complete freedom to be themselves. Two and a half years later, I’m most proud of our members who continually visit, signup daily and give voice (all the way from Iceland, Australia, Japan, England and beyond) they like what we are doing. We created the ‘I am Visible’ campaign to showcase everyday bisexuals they are visible, they matter and they’re real in way of video, personals stories or imagery—it’s a slow process but I want to make a different in big and smalls ways, like helping bisexual youth, the poor who are aged out of support, seniors and one day starting a foundation. Who’s to say… it’s a big bisexual world out there and we’re just getting warmed up.

Bio: Adrienne J Williams is the Founder ofBi Social Network(AJW Media), which showcases niche bisexual content in entertainment, social media, online publishing and events. Adrienne also produces a weekly radio show called ‘Bi Talk’ and is reaching out to the community, to promote a yearlong campaign effort called 'I am Visible;' to educate the public on issues surrounding biphobia and bi-erasure, within our community and to bring tolerance and understanding to all. Bi Social Network has been featured in theChicago Tribune’sRedEye. Adrienne has also been selected for the GLAAD National People of Color Media Institutefor 2011 and is the process of writing her first book. www.bisocialnetwork.com |www.visible.bisocialnetwork.com| http://www.ajwconsultingmedia.com |

Francois Nel Mr Gay South Africa 2010

The Mr. Gay World Organization (MGWO) was founded in 2008 by Eric Butter, a philanthropist and businessman, with the vision to unite the gay community all over the world in a strong common cause. Along with President Eric Butter, gay advocates Dean Nelson, Noemi Alberto, Carlos Melia and Brian Merriman work together to create a more positive image for the gay people, and seek to fight discrimination and stigma. The mission of Mr. Gay World is to advance national and international gay rights through education and public performance. The MGWO creates authentic leaders who will take responsibility, not only in his own community but on a global stage, speaking out for equal rights by inspiring those around him. MGW is a genuine and positive role model that will champion equality and diversity in the media both gay and mainstream. In March 2011, the 3rd annual MGWO competition was held in Manlia, Philippines and honored Francois Nel with the Mr Gay World title. Francois also hold the Mr. Gay South Africa 2010 title. His many talents include Visual Multimedia/ Creative Writing, HIV Care & Counseling, as well as artist, lecturer and educator in the field of make-up & hair styling. During his reign, Francois looks forward to stating his case of the African LGBTI people in his travels to different continents. The 4th annual Mr. Gay World competition will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa in April 2012. Charl van den Berg Mr Gay South Africa 2009

Before winning the Mr Gay World 2010 title, Charl states:

Yeah, yeah I know what you’re thinking... these beauty competitions are so narcissistic and just brainless wonder parading around in skimpy underwear working hard for that sash and sceptre. LOL! Believe me I’m not here for the glory of being South Africa’s Number 1 Moffie. I actually have a message and a sense of social responsibility that I’d like to share and winning this title will provide me with a great opportunity to contribute positively towards the South African gay community and hopefully to South Africa in general. Although I’m painfully aware that as South Africa we have a Constitution that is based on sexual equality, I think our biggest obstacle to this equality is not what we perceive to be so called heterosexual prejudice. Our biggest obstacle to true equality is our own internal prejudice within the gay community. It baffles me that even in a minority group such as the gay community; there can still be division and prejudice. Yes, I said it: although it’s never spoken about in polite conversation we are still divided amongst lines of class, top or bottom, butch or meisle-like and especially colour. How can we ever make a stand in the world if we can’t even stand together? As stated by Charl during the last week of his reign:

It has only been an HONOUR to serve the global LGBTI community as I have and if I was able to make a difference in ONE person’s life, then I achieved my goal! Connextions Magazine would like to extend our gratitude to Charl for his service this past year. Michael Holtz & Neil Totton

For the first time, the United States took part in the Mr. Gay World competition in 2011. In early 2011, Michael Holtz was honored with the Mr. Gay USA 2011 title. As a very energetic activist, Michael uses his athletic abilities to raise awareness in the LGBT community through sports. In 2010, Compete Magazine named Holtz as gay athlete of the year. Most notably, in 2008, Michael was inspired to swim the English Channel, which led to the implementation of two of the first-ever, open-water, long-distance swims on both the East and West coasts to raise money for LGBT equality. Michael has a resume filled with volunteer work for such organizations as Equality California, The Stonewall Foundation and The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. Michael states: “The opportunity to serve as Mr Gay USA 2011 has helped me continue my work in creating a positive impact on, and for, the LGBTQ community and to help protect, develop, and advance our rights. As an open athlete, I am focusing my life on using the medium of athletics to bring the world together to better understand, know about, and interact with the LGBTQ community in a positive light. In turn, the athletic events I produce provide an interactive platform

for engagement bringing all types of people working together for a common goal to a better understanding and acknowledgement that the LGBTQ community is full of wonderful, vibrant people who enhance so many parts of our communities, businesses, and lives and also a place with whom everyone can interact on many levels in non-hostile, compassionate, and productive way.” With Michael’s zest and enthusiasm for life, it is no surprise that he took title as Mr Gay USA and 1st runner-up at the Mr Gay World competition in the Philippines this year! Neil Totton took place as 1st runner-up in the Mr. Gay USA competition. Along with a ‘stunning smile, Neil’s talents go far and wide! The singer, producer, and performing artist just released his breakout single “Cuntry Boi,” which can be found on youtube. Founder of Mr Gay USA, Jarl Haugedal uses social media to aquire candidates and promote the mission of the competition. Jarl plans to host promotional events throughout the year at NYC-JC luxury hotel suites. For all interested candidates, contact frank@mrgayworldusa. com. THE RIGHT In June of 2011, Lori graciously accepted the honor of being Celebrity Host for the All Inclusive Chicago Gay & Lesbian Wedding event at the Stan Mansion in Chicago. Giovanni’s Room

The oldest LGBT Bookstore in the USA

The closing of A Different Light in San Francisco raises the question about the future of Giovanni’s Room. Giovanni’s Room, of Pennsylvania, now the oldest LGBT bookstore in the country, continues because it provides an unparalleled selection of goods and services in the store and has expanded to provide the finest access to LGBT books and Google eBooks on the Internet.

to schools, libraries, and a bookmobile in the region, among the many other contributions to local LGBT organizations.

There is no substitute for a physical store. You can survey in a few brief minutes the most important books and movies in their “specialties line” since the last time you were in. Our staff, with over 100 years’ experience, can also give you the best advice on the “specialties line.” A physical store is also a community center, in a variety of ways. For many people, the LGBT bookstore was their original “safe space,” a place in which one might begin to come out to oneself and support others. Giovanni’s Room carries that fine tradition forward. They are partially staffed by volunteers, giving community members meaningful roles in the work they do.

Through their website people can order for store pick up or for delivery any of 2.3 million books in print in English and any of some 3 million Google eBooks.

As host to some 50 authors a year, their events enrich both local community members and those writing for them. The reading groups meeting in the store contribute to the vitality of the community as well. Giovanni’s Room provides expert advice and wholesale services

Regular email blasts by Giovanni’s Room provides consumers with the most complete and up to date lists of new books, Google eBooks, and movies in our specialties line found on the Internet.

There is a great danger that the written word in this country will be controlled by Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble. Is it smart to put publishers, authors, and readers utterly at the mercy of these would-be monopolies? Support local bookstores & small business! mitation is the highest form of flattery. And while flattery might not get you everywhere, stage veteran Richard Skipper is using imitation to return traditional values to the art. Skipper says Carol Channing is unlike any other role he’s ever played. That’s because he doesn’t just imitate the living legend; he is her. And as friends, fans and even Channing herself will attest to, his act is polished to near perfection. To say that Skipper loves the infamous stage and screen personality is an understatement. But obsessed isn’t it, either.

The test came when Skipper found himself face-to-face with his inspiration at an after party in 1994. He admits his knowledge of her life scared the hell out of Channing at first, but before long the meticulous act won her affections. “She wanted to know where I learned to do this,” Skipper says. “’How long have you been impersonating me,’ she asked. So I replied, ‘Who is to say you’re not impersonating me?’ She laughed. I performed for her that night. Brought the house down.”

Skipper as Channing recreates the audacious comedic wit of one of the greatest acts in the business, without the popular conventions of today’s put-down humor. “Everything I do,” he says, “is to honor Carol, her legacy, her fans, and to entertain my audience.” Skipper reveres Channing and her legacy, but also respects her fans. For starters, you won’t find one four-letter word in the act—something he says is rare. “Because Carol Channing has been impersonated so much, lots of people have a preconceived notion of what the show is supposed to be.”

Skipper remembers when the intimate bond between performer and audience was paramount, spawning acts like Jim Bailey as Judy Garland. Now, somewhere between yesteryear’s Broadway fantasies and the rugged wiles of contemporary entertainment lies the promise of the tribute show revival. “The performance is sacred,” he says. “By recreating his experiences, Bailey earned the respect of Garland’s contemporaries—Liza, Lorna and others. That’s my goal post. That’s what I go for. Channing as I’ve seen her.”

For a while Skipper resisted taking the act beyond impromptu out-of-costume appearances and singing for friends at parties. When prodded long and hard enough, he started his research.

GAYFEST NYC, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation, which functions as a clearing house for new GLBT and other minority plays, and encourages and supports playwrights who address our lives, our issues and our concerns. Its 2010 Festival production of the musical ‘This One Girl’s Story,’ book by Bil Wright, music & lyrics by Dionne McClain-Freeney, is the recipient of a 2011 GLAAD Media Award nomination for Best Off-Off Broadway production. GAYFEST NYC, Inc. works throughout the year to fund its programs and hosts an annual benefit for the Harvey Milk High School (HMHS). This event helps to pay for in-school education and mentoring programs at the school and contributes to the scholarship fund for the graduates. The education program, now in its fourth year, provides an accredited playwriting class as part of the school curriculum. GAYFEST NYC, Inc. administers the program and pays two teaching artists throughout the year to facilitate this class. At the end of the second semester each year professional Equity actors (12 this past June) are engaged to read the work developed by the students in class. This is done as an assembly for the entire student body of HMHS. The scholarship program was established in May 2007. Since that time GAYFEST NYC, Inc. has awarded 29 scholarships to graduates of the Harvey Milk High School.

2011 Ballroom Gala This year’s event, which included a wonderful array of silent auction items, headlined such celebrities as Wanda Sykes, Michael Urie, Lance Horne, David Mixner, Cortés Alexander, Emily McNamara, and Justin Vivian Bond, among others.

Cortés Alexander: “Thank you for a life- affirming night like no other. I now have inspiration to carry me for a long, long time. If you'll have me, I'd love to be on your roster of talent that you can always count on whenever you need.”

David Mixner: “Thank you so much for the wonderful honor and spectacular evening. I was so thrilled to be a part of it.”

Emily McNamara: “Thank YOU for having me! It was truly an honor and I hope you feel that it was a success! Please call on me again. I'm always here to help for a good cause.”

The men behind the production Congratulations to Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman for all their efforts, hard work, and dedicated community service! Connextions Magazine isn’t the only fan who wishes to applaud this dynamic duo… the Fresh Fruit Festival is also honoring Bruce and Jack as the 2011 recipients of the Harry Wieder Award for Community Service.

Get involved

Justin Vivian Bond: “It was my pleasure to be involved in GAYFEST NYC this year. It's always a privilege to lend service to a worthwhile organization such as the Harvey Milk High School.” The Community Service Award presented by GAYFEST NYC, Inc., was given to David Mixner. David’s inspiring speech was legendary!... and left the speechless crowd with goosebumps. This Award is presented annually to a courageous visionary, and dedicated individual or organization whose selfless acts of care, sustained commitment and outstanding service have enhanced the quality of life for members of the LGBT community.

“We will be producing a professional production of a new play in New York City this fall, and encourage your readers to look for us as we guarantee provocative, intelligent new work. We are also producing a major West End production of one of our GAYFEST NYC plays, ‘The Legacy’ by Adam Seigel.” - Jack Batman. The Loews Regency Hotel has partnered to host next year’s ballroom gala, but in the meantime… get involved! Contributors can either go to the HMHS page on the website or send donations directly to GAYFEST NYC, Inc., One River Place, Suite 917, New York, NY 10036. www.GAYFESTNYC.com

“Not every gay or lesbian person will want to get married, but now every gay and lesbian person can feel a little more safe, experience a little more dignity, and most important of all, feel proud, proud not only for themselves (gay pride), but for the citizens of this small state which has had the good sense to do the right thing. -as stated by the Hartness House

rossing into Vermont, take note of the moose crossing signs. These beautiful animals are much larger than deer, harder to spot, and offer a twinge of excitement at the thought of a rare appearance. With so many things this state has to offer, there is something for everyone all year round. Autumn foliage and winter skiing are not the only highlights that attract the largest crowds to the beautiful state of Vermont. Spring, at the beginning, is when they start making the “world famous” Vermont Maple Sugar. Summer is a great time for hiking, camping, and shopping for antiques & pottery. Two of the largest hiking trails are “The Appalachian” and “The Long Trail.” If you are a lover of the ‘fresh air’ and outdoor activities, their clean lakes and ponds are perfect for swimming, fishing, canoeing and rafting down the white water rapids. And best of all, most accommodations during the summer season tend to have reduced rates. Fall Foliage in Vermont is heavenly. The array of vibrant colors is brief but brilliant in the Green Mountains. In early September, this transformation begins and lasts only about a week. Book your hotel room early; finding a place to stay at the last minute can be very difficult, since leaf peepers come from around the globe. Ski resorts such as Sugarbush and Killington run the chair and gondola lifts specifically for sight seers and Killington has been offering special packages for over half a century now during this season. Winter is the most popular of all seasons in Vermont! Whether it is a romantic getaway or a winter family vacation, Vermont’s rugged hills are legendary to skiers, riders, skaters, kiteboarders and winter enthusiasts. As a haven and historical focal point of Nordic

skiing in North America, it’s no wonder why they call Vermont “The ski capital of the East”. After a full day of action packed adventure, try a serene romantic horse drawn carriage ride through the white snow amidst a glistening sunset. Vermont notables: • The 114 covered bridges of Vermont are among its most historic sites and certainly worth viewing! •

120 miles of freshwater making Lake Champlain stretches from the VT and NY border to the Canadian border.

World-famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory is located in Waterbury, VT and open for public viewing every day, ending the tour with a free sample of their famous delicious treat.

In 2000, Vermont became the first US state to legalize same-sex civil unions and then in April 2009, the Vermont legislation enacted marriage equality into the Vermont Statues. The state officially recognizes and issues marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples without a waiting period and there is no residency requirement. Several of the Vermont Inns offer all-inclusive wedding packages. For all those out-of-towners, many allow you to reserve the entire Inn for your weekend wedding with family and friends. It does not matter if you are a thrill seeker, a romantic, a health enthusiast, or just looking for breathe taking beauty while hiking, relaxing or traveling, Vermont welcomes you!

Dine on the grounds at Norma’s, a beautiful restaurant with mountain views that features creative, Vermont-inspired cuisine with dishes like a local cheese tasting and roasted beet carpaccio with Vermont feta and endive.
