The Impact U Program at Concordia College New York

A College Experience and so much more

What is Impact U?

The immersive, post-secondary Impact U program offers an

inclusive college experience to adults aged 18-26 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with the supports and safeguards necessary for success. Impact U students graduate from the 2-year program with a Certificate of Applied Learning and a resume of work experiences.

What is college life like for an Impact U Student?

Concordia’s Impact U students can live in the integrated dorms on our small, safe campus, and participate in all aspects of student life. They audit college-level classes open to all students, eat in the dining hall, perform community service, work in internships on and off campus, and enjoy the student-centered atmosphere of our small, faith-based college. Impact U graduates become lifelong Clippers – a valued part of Concordia’s close-knit alumni community.

What do students gain from the program?

Impact U encourages social and emotional growth while building skills in problem-solving, decision-making and self-advocacy. Academic learning is joined by preparation for employability in competitive, integrated job settings. Students engage in job readiness skills through prevocational training and supported employment in oncampus internships the first year, and possible off-campus internships the second year.
