You will find that the par-3, third hole descends into a tropical sanctuary; there you will find century-old mangroves lining the fairways. Then from there, the game continues through sea grass and dunes before ascending back to the headlands on hole 16. The dramatic El Caiman, or hole 17, offers incredible views of the Oceanside fairways of Pebble Beach; between the months of January and March, it is a premiere spot for spotting humpback whales that migrate through the Mona Passage to the African Coast. The 18th hole is one of six dramatic holes; it was named Des Rezos, or Two Prayers, because it crosses the ocean twice. The most entertaining of the holes, is the 19th; here you will find golfers sipping sweet tropical nectars while sharing tales of paradise. Then to top it all off, there is an immaculate club house that offers a beautiful terrace that overlooks the Caribbean Sea. It also offers accommodations like a men and women golf apparel and equipment shop, a restaurant and bar with an open breakfast and lunch; and locker and changing rooms with showers, among many other amenities. Although the Roco Ki offers a championship golf course, it is a place where anyone at any skill level can play. Those that are elite will definitely find the course to be very fulfilling, while those that are a novice or beginner will find it to be a great and fun challenge. A SCOOPED, FLIPPED, CUPPED WRIST, or whatever you want to call this, is WRONG. This occurs when you TRY to help the ball in the air. If you like skulls, chunky “monkeys” and decelerating then scoop, otherwise, hinge and hold girls!

When my fundamentals around the green get lazy, I chunk and skull the ball. In the early days when I had no clue what the culprits were of these unpretty shots, I would get frustrated and pull my hair out. My goal for you, is to save your hair on your head and share the main culprits of thin and fats shots around the green.
3 Quick Check Points: • Where is your weight? Your weight should favor your left leg (front leg) through the back swing and downswing. There is minimal if any weight shift with a chip. • What’s your head doing? It should not budge. Keep it quiet, not like a statue quiet, but relaxed and quiet, especially through the shot when you are anxious to see the results. • Are you SCOOPING, FLIPPING, or CUPPING YOUR WRISTS? This occurs when you TRY to help the ball in the air. Instead think, hinge and hold. Your hands, arms and shoulders are one unit working together not independently. Your only thought should be, hit down on the ball for a crisp, clean chip. Hinge and hold helps you achieve this more easily.

A common fault for women and men. Swaying or the lateral slide is a distance control killer. I cannot stress enough the importance of A SOLID BASE. This is your power source. Your distance comes from a solid, braced right leg. If you slide you lose all YOUR POWER.
There could be several factors effecting your distance off the tee. In this article, we will talk about three power zappers that rob valuable distance off the tee. They include Fast Tempo, a poor take-away and a backswing no-no I like to call the “fake turn”.
If your right hip moves outside your right foot all leverage and power is lost. In order to get back to the ball you’ll need to slide back towards the target and this alone is very difficult to time. Your power source begins from the ground up. In order to make consistent contact you need to start with a solid base.
Culprit 1: Fast Tempo
Fitness: Meet your gluteus medius. Your gluteus medius helps stabilize lateral movement. Some key exercises to help prevent the sway are Hi-Fi’s and Low-Fi’s with MedBall, Crosswalks and the Lateral Bridge. All exercises can be found in video and downloadable cheat sheet format on TEE to GREEN online membership.
I cannot stress enough the importance of RHYTHM and TEMPO. Without it, errant shots will be the norm and consistency will be a difficult suitor. We want control of the club, not the club taking control of us, right girls! Know when you are swinging out of your socks, then STOP IT! Take 3 deep breaths and literally cut your swing tempo in half. Also, check your grip: As you address the ball, grip the club lightly and waggle your wrists making sure they remain loose. If you are death-gripping the club there will certainly be tension either in your hands, arms or shoulders which zap valuable distance. continued on next page

The start of your backswing sets the stage for a swing that will either be on or off plane. As you begin your backswing AVOID pulling the club too inside. You will most likely snap hook or push the shot to the right to compensate for your clubhead being too far behind your hands. The key is to Maintain the triangle. As you begin your backswing think about keeping the triangle together by keeping your hands, arms and shoulders moving together in one piece. It keeps the club on the right path and promotes a wide arc - the key for more distance.
The last culprit is a backswing no-no. I see this often out on the course and in my backswing. I continually have to monitor my turn to ensure I am not committing the “Fake Turn”. As you can see here (left), my shoulders are barely behind the ball. Typically the result of lifting the arms instead of turning with your shoulders. A good visualization is to visualize your arms and shoulders moving back as one unit. Visualize your legs as tree trunks planted in the ground while you make a nice coil. The result - watch the ball sail far down the center of the fairway!

Golfers can tee-off in style on the newly renovated Donald Ross Golf Course, a lushly landscaped, 6,700-yard, 18 hole par-71 course designed by architect Donald Ross in 1925. “The Biltmore has several golfers staying on property specifically to play the course, and the course is often utilized by avid golfers in the local community,” explains Claire Tabak, marketing assistant. “Typically, when we host large meetings or conventions, golf is a substantial components that is incorporated.” One of the property’s newest features, the Biltmore Total Performance Golf (TPG) program, serves to enhance and analyze a golfer’s swing. “TPG is a joint venture between golf swing instructors, biomechanists, physical therapists and fitness trainers that uses a state-of-the-art 3D motion capture system and a functional movement analysis to affectively evaluate the efficiency of not only the golf swing but also the body,” she adds. The property offers a spacious driving range and one of the Southeast’s largest practice areas. It’s home to the annual Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship. The John Pallot Golf Academy, a first-class teaching facility, provides instruction from 10 certified instructors, including three current PGA professionals. Established by John Pallot, a 14-year PGA member, the Biltmore’s John Pallot Golf Academy offers one-to-three-day schools, customized clinics and tailored individual and group programs.

The infamous villas nestled on Dellis Cay’s southeastern and southwestern shores are eight five-bedroom Beach Villas and nine-bedroom Ocean Villas; both were designed by Piero Lissoni. The Beach Villas by Shigeru Ban were created with contrasting designs: Maison H and Maison S. The Maison H has a design that is classically simplistic, yet alluring. Its expansive doubleheight living and dining areas give a roomy feel for its residents. It has retractable glass walls at either end that open up into The Maison S has a futuristic vibe that has an organic outline that has curvaceous walls that encircle a reflecting pond; it then flares outwards to an angular swimming pool and a powderblue ocean. Both of the villas, Maison S and H, have its own ocean pavilion feature called the Maison O. It is a complete, selfcontained house in its own right and has a private bridge that connects to the main villa from the beach. For something a bit more off the market and unique, there are the Over Water Villas by Carl Ettensperger. This was inspired by his award-winning work in Asia, which set a new standard for over water living. They are two-bedroom villas that appear to float

freely; the design gives it a natural presence against a backdrop of everlasting ocean. Each of the villas have four pavilions that are composed around an extensive courtyard deck.
