Internal Communications & Engagement Assistant Communications & Marketing Department, Support Services, Widnes, WA8 7SP (occasional national travel required therefore drivers preferred) Full time 37.5 hours per week

The role Community Integrated Care is one of the largest and most successful social care charities in the UK. Employing over 5000 colleagues and supporting nearly 6000 people with care and support needs, we have a large and diverse internal audience. With a bold vision to become the UK’s leading health and social care charity, we recognise the importance of effective internal communications and engagement in achieving our charity’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will join Community Integrated Care’s Communications & Marketing Department at an exciting time, following a recent departmental restructure to support the development of distinct internal and external communications functions. Reporting to the Head of Customer & Stakeholder Engagement, the successful candidate will support the implementation and delivery of an annual programme of internal communications and engagement activity, in line with our newly launched IC&E strategy. The candidate An energetic, resourceful and self-motivated communicator, with good knowledge and experience of a broad range of print and digital channels, the post-holder will possess exceptional written skills and creative flair. With a keen eye for a great story and the ability to tell it in the most compelling way, they will be passionate about developing the Community Integrated Care brand internally. They will do this by promoting the achievements of our internal audiences, creating opportunities for them to have real involvement and influence within the organisation, and bringing our organisational story to life in the most compelling way. The successful candidate will be a true ‘people’ person, with the ability to build great relationships at all levels within the organisation. They will be committed to developing a deep understanding of our workforce, motivated by the desire to make Community Integrated Care a better place to work, so that our services are better places to live. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a communications or PR role, preferably within a large organisation or agency. They will have worked on delivering effective communication campaigns, have a good eye for design, and knowledge/experience in Adobe Photoshop and videoproduction software would be highly regarded, but not essential. They must, however, have excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to work, being able to balance multiple priorities and complete tasks and projects efficiently. Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work are necessities.


Job description 

Writing creative and compelling content for a range of internal communications channels, both print and digital, in a timely and credible way (including regional newsletters, manager’s briefings/updates, company intranet etc.)

Creating a range of multi-media content various internal channels including photography, videography, infographics etc.

Supporting the creation and delivery of our internal magazine, including sourcing and writing engaging editorial features and content, as well as influencing creative direction.

Acting as editorial gatekeeper for the organisation’s intranet and internal social media presence (Yammer), ensuring consistency of content and messaging.

Overseeing the creation and implementation of e-newsletters and updates for internal audiences.

Collaborating closely with the external marketing and business development teams to ensure stories and content are shared in the most effective and timely way across all internal platforms.

Working with external design teams to plan, manage and deliver creative internal communications/promotional campaigns.

Assisting in the development and delivery of stand-alone communication plans for specific organisational projects or initiatives, with clear strategic objectives.

Assisting in the development and implementation of internal engagement and recognition initiatives.

Supporting the delivery of an annual programme of events including reward and recognition events, engagement events/conferences for Senior Leaders or managers’ briefings, with the aim of improving leadership visibility and involvement.

Developing a network of trusted Communications Champions across the business.

Measuring the effectiveness of internal activity or campaigns through regular employee surveys or ‘pulse’ checks, in order to make on-going improvements.

Supporting the development of action plans following employee surveys and ensuring communication of activities conducted as a result of employee feedback.

Acting as brand ambassador, ensuring that all materials are aesthetically on brand, with the correct ‘look and feel’ and that all activity reflects our brand promise.

Acting as an ambassador for communication best practice, ensuring that all internal communications are in line with our charity’s tone of voice and style.

Supporting the team with administrative tasks such as invoicing, budgeting, ordering, travel arrangement etc.

Any other reasonable responsibilities assigned by the Head of Customer & Stakeholder Engagement, commensurate with the scope of the post.
