REFLECTION: This week’s devotion invites us to see the many ways in which God teaches us how to live in today’s society The most impor tant thing for us to know is that God is sovereign, and He gover ns our lives Rather than seeking God’s wisdom, humanity thinks that anything goes The Holy Spir it instills this desire, and we should keep that in mind We should never cease aspir ing to advance in our society As Chr istians we accept that the Spir it of God, guiding us by his invisible hand, gives us understanding of the proper knowledge of the law When we beat against the laws established by God (taxes, etc ), we do ourselves a disser vice It is best to live with a clear conscience and in an order ly fashion The r ight of author ity over us has been given to people we tr ust and who have integr ity If we do not tr ust our leaders we should vote them out of office When we fail to do so we give up the r ight to proper ly gover n Society changes over time to reflect its beliefs of justice To live in har mony with one another God established laws to gover n humanity For a social system to be effective we must tr ust and respect those laws When laws go against God’s laws the society no longer lives under freedom but under author itar ianism God has established a plan for all of humanity to live in har mony until Chr ist retur ns on the Last Day The Body of Chr ist is to be law abiding and a reflection of God’s grace in the wor ld We do this by shar ing God’s wisdom with others by the way we live and love

Bob passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his son’s home on Pine Lake He is survived by his wife of 70 years Sally; son, Mark (Gale) Doster, daughters, Leesa (Richard Thomas) Doster and Karen (Rick Konecky) Doster; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a sister Gail (Dale) Parker He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Matthew, 4 brothers and 2 sisters Robert was born February 21, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of Dale and Lillian (Eitell) Doster
His family moved to Cooper Township and he attended Plainwell Schools where he won Varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball Bob was a proud Notre Dame fan In his early years he was a horse jockey Bob was very proud of his heritage in the Doster family and was a direct descendent of John and Priscilla Alden who came over on the Mayflower on his mother’s side
He was an avid golfer Bob enlisted in the Air Force when the Korean Conflict broke out and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command where he was assigned to Lockborne AFB, Ohio and North Africa and obtained the rank of S/Sgt After the service he worked for Upjohn/Pfizer in the Fine Chemicals Division until his retirement in 1990 Bob and Sally traveled many years to Hawaii and spent their winters in Venice, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC and summers in South Haven Bob was a member of St Margaret Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he had served as Grand Knight He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Friends may meet with Bob’s family Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 3 to 6 P M A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Margaret Catholic Church, Otsego on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 A M Burial will follow at St Margaret Catholic Cemetery, Otsego with Military Honors In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Bob may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, St Margaret Catholic School or Centrica Care Navigators

Carolyn Sue (Grimm) Pryor of Plainwell, Michigan passed away in her sleep on August 29, 2023 at the Wings of Hope House in Allegan, Michigan Carolyn was born with her identical twin (Sandi LaFountain) on February 27, 1950 in Plainwell, MI, daughter to the late Harry Grimm, Sr and Kathaleen Grimm Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry G Pryor and son Travis Pryor Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Harry Grimm Jr and one sister Virginia (Grimm) Boyce She is survived by one twinsister Sandi (Rick) LaFountain, two brothers Larry (Rosie) Grimm and DarryI (Alice) Grimm and many nieces & nephews Carolyn was a f a i t h f u l m e m b e r o f t h e Plainwell Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses all of her life She is greatly missed and loved! A Memorial & Zoom service will be held Sept 9, 2023 at 4:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 280 Starr Rd , Plainwell, MI 49080 Contributions in Carolyn’s memory can be made to the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York 900 Red Mills Rd , Wallkill, NY 12589

How do we get to know a person? We may want to know such things as their name, temperament, interests, tastes, exper iences, conduct or what others say about them Likewise, to know God is to know who God is The attr ibutes of God has been our focus over the past three months In summar y, here are some things to remember
When feeling unloved, remember God is love (I John 4:8)
When we have failed, remember God is faithful (Lamentations 3:22-23)
When needing a closer walk with God remember God is holy. (I Peter 1:16)
When power less, remember God is all powerful (Revelation 19:6)
When feeling the absence of God remember God is everywhere . (Matthew 28:2)
When confused, remember God is all knowing (Psalm 139:1)
When we have sinned remember God is merciful (I John 1:9)
When feeling hopeless, remember God is in control (Psalm 103:19)
When needing direction remember God is wisdom (James 1:5)
When tr ying to discer n tr uth, remember God is truth (John 14:6)
When overwhelmed, remember God is timeless (Hebrew 13:8)
When discouraged, remember God is trustworthy (Psalm 91:2)
