Reece Clinton Plotts lost his battle with clinical depression on September 15, 2023 at the age of 21 Reece quietly, yet bravely fought with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues for several years before making the painful choice to end his own suffering He is survived by his parents, Randy Plotts of Otsego and Lisa Plotts of Plainwell; brother, Connor Plotts; grandmothers, Karen Christensen and Kathy Plotts, and several aunts, uncles and cousins He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Battles and Ronald Plotts, and his great-grandmother, Esther Christensen Reece was born on May 8, 2002 to Randy and Lisa (Battles) Plotts He attended Otsego High School where he ran hurdles in track, made many friends, and focused on getting good grades before graduating in 2020 with plans to move to Montana to ski and go to school Reece was a hard worker with a kind heart and a great sense of humor, and he always followed a strong inner moral compass Reece’s true passion was freestyle skiing, and he spent countless hours over the years perfecting jumps, riding the rails, and making friends Bittersweet’s ski park was truly his wintertime home away from home Reece enjoyed movie nights with BrownHaired Grandma, spending time and laughing with his beloved brother Connor, and spoiling his dog Bentley, who never left his side Reece left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by all The funeral service took place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, with celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating Burial followed at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego Contributions in memory of Reece may be made to Gryphon Place of Kalamazoo

Patricia “Patty” ZANTJER AGE 79 - OTSEGO, MI

Patricia "Patty" Zantjer left the loving arms of those that loved her to take up her favorite games of teasing and playing pranks, but in Heaven She was a bright star, with a radiant smile and an infectious laugh, that captivated people Born in Detroit, MI, on November 22, 1943 to Dallas and Viola (Muehe) Payne, Patty grew up in Richland, MI, on the family farm and at their cottage at Gull Lake She spent her time skiing at the lake and skating at the roller rink Patty worked at The Pub, owned by her parents, where she met Bruce Zantjer Patty and Bruce were married on May 11, 1963 and were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary Together they raised their children, Scott and Angela (Lin) in Otsego and at their cottage at Duck Lake At the cottage, Patty baked in the sunshine, hosted 4th of July parties, sat around the fire and created mischief Patty had a passion for animals Her family joked that she would bring a stray horse home if she could Patty proudly worked as a bus driver for Otsego Public Schools for 44 years She delighted in greeting her students in the morning with a smile She rejoiced in taking bus trips to watch the students in marching band, choir and sports One of her favorite hobbies was singing with the Sweet Adelines Patty relished the friendship of the other women and the music that touched her heart Most importantly, she wore bright costumes with lots of sparkle, which harmonized with her personality Patty looked forward to family reunions and spending time playing cards and laughing late into the night There was never a dull moment or a shortage of rowdy laughter Gracious thanks to the friends and family that spent time with her at the nursing home and brought joy to her Remember her friendship, devotion to her family and her generous heart A celebration, emphasis on celebration, of Patty's life will be held at a later date In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Centrica Care Givers, the Hospice that affectionately cared for her at the end of her life

St Paul loves to affir m his fellow Chr istians who walk with him in faith and hope He acknowledges the Spir it of Chr ist is wor king in him and it shows Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things wor k together for good, for those who are called according to His pur pose ” (ESV) Let’s accept the precept that all things in our lives contr ibute to the advancement of God’s redemptive plan even though it may seem the whole wor ld is conspir ing for the destr uction of Chr istianity Let us be confident in the Lord Jesus who willingly gives answers to our prayers The goodness of God shines br ightly in all our dar k places freeing us from the burden of sin Let us accept the Spir it of Jesus Chr ist which has been poured out upon us After faith comes cher ished hope We have hope, knowing we are in Chr ist and are being help by God’s promises Romans 5:3-5 “There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in tur n forges the tempered steel of vir tue, keeping us aler t for whatever God will do next In aler t expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shor tchanged Quite the contrar y we can’t round up enough containers to hold ever ything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spir it!” (Message Bible)

We are well into the favor ite season for many football season! We as family members have our proud moments It happened just before the regular season began Our grandson, Jack Minor, a senior r unning back and defensive back for the Marshall High School football team, along with two teammates, was named a co-team captain Those responsibilities include leading by example, displaying good spor tsmanship, promoting team spir it and encouraging the team to be the best they can be A team captain must watch the plays being called by their coaches on the sideline and then make sure team members are carr ying out those plays on the playing field They need to be able to make quick decisions

It is obvious, in our grandson’s situation, that team members have a huge amount of respect for him and for each other His teammates see in him his passion for the game, self-discipline, character and they feed off his energy Again, if it sounds like I’m bragging I am!

In the realm of faith, Jesus Chr ist is the Captain of o u r S a l va t i o n ( H e b r ew s 2 : 1 0 – K i n g Ja m e s Version) God is the coach The Bible is God’s playbook The stor y of Chr istianity is how Jesus called a huddle of ordinar y men and then sent them out to win the wor ld for Chr ist (Matthew 28:19, 20) Jesus fulfilled God’s pur pose by dying on the cross for our sins and r ising from death to give us hope for eter nal life

Whenever two or three are gathered in His name, we are r ight where we need to be in a huddle with God As members of Chr ist’s team, our place is to know our positon (spir itual gifts) and then put them into practice

This cutie was brought into Wishbone’s care as a lost dog on 5/28/23 Since then he’s been neutered and brought up to date on vaccinations and prevention Collin is estimated to be almost 2 years old This babyfaced boy is a sweet, playful dog He loves ever yone he meets and would love to show you that chunky meatballs can be lapdogs too! If you saw his segment on WZZM you would see he didn’t stop giving kisses the entire 3 minutes He is ver y popular at the shelter and has lots of doggie playmates now he’s pretty much the core of the playgroups! He is one smar t cookie who picks up on new things quickly He already knows some basic cues and walks politely on the leash Collin could join a family with other dogs and/or older ”dog savvy” kids If there is a dog in the family, a meet and greet will be scheduled to ensure they’re a good fit Kids that are age 10 years or older and are used to big, playful dogs would be his best fit, but he could do younger with the r ight kids Collin is eligible for Bissell Empty the Shelters, so his adoption fee is currently reduced to $50
