Barbara Robinson, age 63, of Plainwell, went to be with the lord on May 27, 2023, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo Barb was born June 23, 1959, in Plainwell, MI the daughter of John and Eda (Messer) Rasnake She graduated from Wayland High School in 1977 On July 9, 1977, in Wayland, Barb was united in marriage to Jeffrey Robinson She was a stay-at-home mom while her kids were little and when Jeff started Twin City Heating and AC, she ran all aspects of the office Barb had a strong sense of patriotism, she enjoyed attending craft shows and had a tremendous love for animals She and Jeff spent many weekends up north at Silver Lake but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Barb is survived by her husband, Jeff; three children, Jennifer (Josh) Reed, Jessica (Ben) Babbitt and Jeffrey (Lindsey) Robinson; 14 grandchildren, Anthony, Austin, Joshua, Joey, Jacob, Owen, Lucas, Ayden, Emma, Ava, Haylee, Brynlee, Hayden and Eliott; four siblings, David (Lana) Rasnake, John (Angie Albers) Rasnake, Bridget Dalrylmple, Lester (Tellie) Rasnake; many nieces, nephews and cousins She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Brenda Davidson Family and friends are invited to gather at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080, on Thursday, June 1, from 4:00 p m until 7:00 p m and again Friday, June 2, from 10:00 until 11:00 a m at Martin United Methodist Church, 969 E Allegan St , Martin, MI 49070 A funeral service will follow at 11 a m at the church She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, Orangeville, following the service Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Allegan County Animal Shelter

Martha Jean (Burkett) Phelps entered this earth February 28, 1946 through God’s love to parents Milton and Glenna Burkett in Sidney, Ohio She was welcomed and adored by her brother, Wendell and sister, Rita Family and friends have watched her grow and develop her God given gifts that have inspired us all Jean worked as a preschool teacher at Sunshine Preschool in Plainwell, at The ARK Preschool at the Otsego Church of God, as well as Basic Life Skills tutor at Otsego Public School She also taught Sunday school and helped with the children’s musicals She loved connecting with her family, friends, and classmates Cooking, baking, and tending to her flower gardens were her specialties Jean loved caring for those in need, giving of herself continually and sacrificially for their wellbeing She was guardian and caretaker for her grandson, Charles for 35 years, participating in his programs with special support staff Jean left this earthly home to her heavenly home that God has prepared for her on May 30, 2023 We will all miss her greatly, but will be inspired by her sense of humor and sharing God’s love in random acts of kindness Surviving is her husband, Ron Phelps; her children, Lee (Maria) Slentz, Melissa (Jeffery) Hucko and Ronnie Phelps; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Alec) Hucko, Charles Oisten, Alyssa (Jared) Hucko and Jasmine (Trevor) Hopkins; her great-granddaughter, Bianca Hopkins; sister, Rita (Jim) Arnsman; and her sister-in-law, Dee Burkett along with her many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Burkett and Glenna (Worden) Burkett; daughter Laureen Jean and her brother Wendell Burkett According to her wishes cremation has taken place Please join Jean’s family for a time of fellowship and refreshments starting at 10:00 A M , Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Otsego Church of God, until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 A M , with Pastor Stephen Burrow officiating Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego at a later time Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to Otsego Church of God for children’s ministries which will include Warner Memorial Youth Camp

Our Beloved Gail passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, with her husband and daughters by her side at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo She was born April 27, 1949 in Hancock, the daughter of Alvin and Martha (Poyhonen)
Honkanen Gail graduated in 1967 from Pershing High School in Detroit She worked in accounting for several years pausing to stay home and raise her daughters She went back to work at several area companies and had the opportunity to work with both of her daughters Gail was a skilled seamstress who taught herself to sew when she was 12 She took great pride in her work perfecting every stitch Gail cherished her mother daughter shopping trips and winning her nightly games of Five Crowns or Yahtzee with her husband, Bruce She was an avid reader, loved taking trips to the U P and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events Her family, pets and friends meant the world to her Gail recently celebrated her 51st wedding anniversary with Bruce whom she married in Detroit in 1972 Surviving along with her husband are her daughters, Angie (Tony) Fatato of Mendon and Jen (Justin) Riley of Plainwell and grandchildren Korbin Fatato and Brayden and Rogan Riley She was preceded in death by her parents daughter Laurie Ann and brother, Gary Friends may visit with Gail’s family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A M , Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell with Pastor Jim Goldschmeding officiating Contributions in memory of Gail may be made to the American Diabetes Association

Herb Benjamin Howell age 89, of Plainwell, MI went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2023 Herb was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 18, 1934, the son of Daniel & Charlotte (Anderson) Howell Herb graduated from Hastings High School in 1953
He was proud to serve his country in the Army, where he was stationed overseas In the fall of 1959, Herb met a young lady named Reva while working on her father’s farm Herb thought she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen and thought that his whole life
They married on September 17, 1960, in the Otsego Church of God They lived and raised their family in the Gun Lake area Herb was a farmer for many years and loved to work in his garden; his specialty was growing tomatoes He loved all music, but Bluegrass & Gospel were his favorite Not only did he have a great singing voice but he played the harmonica and steel guitar, learning by ear Herb was creative in designing tools to help him with whatever he was doing He had home remedies for just about anything His recall and ability to tell corny jokes was legendary Bowling a perfect 300 game was one of the highlights for Herb while playing in the church league He was a faithful servant to the Lord and a member of the Church of God for most of his life
Barbara Herrington of Plainwell, MI passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the age of 78 She was born on December 2, 1944, in Saylersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles & Grace (Howard) Fitzpatrick She grew up in Orangeville and graduated from Martin Schools in 1962 She met Daniel Herrington through friends, and they were married on September 21,1974 They were married for 48 years before he passed away on April 24, 2023 Barb was a Hairdresser and owned her own salon for almost 20 years She loved to do crafts and was very talented She would do as many craft shows as she could More than anything Barb loved her family, especially her grandchildren She never missed an event or opportunity to spend time with them Barb is preceded in her passing by her parents and siblings: Etoyla, Della, Joe, Bonnie, Donna and Rick Left to cherish Barb’s loving memory is her children: Budd (Kimberly) Hybels, Brad (Aimee) Herrington; grandchildren: Alex and Emma Herrington and Skyra Grace, and Blake Hybels; siblings: Henry, Rose, Paul, Faye, Carol and Patsey as well as her sister-in-law Sally (Clarence) Collison and numerous nieces and nephews In accordance with the family’s wishes a public visitation will take place at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 4:00 P M until 7:00 P M Following the visitation, Barb will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery of Orangeville Township, MI on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 11:00 A M Following the committal service at the cemetery a luncheon will be held at the Orangeville Township Hall Memorials made in Barb’s memory may be directed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3030 Envelopes are available at the funeral home

Bruce was born November 23, 1954, the third son of Robert Edwin and Marie Angela Martinson He passed quietly at the family home with his siblings, Tim, Tom, John, Mary, and Joe on May 25, 2023 Bruce enjoyed reading, growing tomatoes, and telling stories He was kind but didn’t want a dog He worked as a baker starting in high school, later doing carpentry and painting Bruce taught himself to play bass guitar becoming part of the Nelson Brothers Band He enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years, sipping on some suds and keeping his life as simple as possible A special thanks to Bruce’s neighbors Floyd and Angie, his wonderful Centrica Hospice team, all our friends and family We all miss our Stu A private family memorial to be held later The family is being cared for by Avink, McCowen, Secord Funeral Home 120 S Woodhams Plainwell MI 269-685-5881
