River was surrendered to the Allegan Shelter with his fr iend Smokey on 1/8/24 Smokey was quickly adopted because he’s a cute, little dog! River was sad to say goodbye to his buddy but they had to be separated because Smokey was picking on River in the shelter environment You wouldn’t guess it from his calm demeanor, but River is just over 1 year old He’s neutered, microchipped, hear twor m negative, up to date on vaccinations /prevention, and ready for adoption River could join a family that already includes other dogs and/or children River LOVES little dogs (Smokey is a pug mix and his doggie foster sister is a Shih Tzu) but he would do well with a calm dog of any size If there is a dog in the home a meet and greet will be scheduled to ensure it’s a good match! I think all of us can easily answer the above question We have seen it happen in the wor ld of politics, in coaching and even in the church Popular ity tur ns on a dime We have seen the fall of once popular political leaders We have seen it in the so-called “coaching carousal ” Ever yone loves a winner and when a team loses games on a consistent basis, the coach’s job is in jeopardy We have seen televangelists fall in popular ity due to some indiscretion
I mention these examples as a lead in to the most popular Man in histor y Jesus Chr ist, God’s Son The beginning of our Lord’s ministr y on ear th was mar ked by widespread popular ity (Mar k l: 28) The contrast came dur ing His last days on ear th when the enemies of Chr ist plotted against Him and His closest fr iends withdrew from Him Histor y’s greatest tragedy (Chr ist’s death on a cross) tur ned into the wor ld’s greatest tr iumph (His resurrection from death)

Doug Minshall age 67 of Kalamazoo passed away on February 3, 2024 Doug was born on February 26 1956 to the late John and Larraine Minshall Doug spent his childhood in Doster, Michigan alongside his brothers and sisters Marilyn Minshall of Doster; Darlene Gleason (Bob) of Otsego; Rosemary Elkins (David) of Otsego; Johnie Minshall of Kalamazoo; Doug was known for being a loving, carefree man who had a love for singing and playing guitar, Motorcycles and Semi Trucks Doug spent many years on the road driving semi for a living before settling down and spending his last years with loved ones and his two dogs Skippy and Tango He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Paula Minshall, his parents and his big sister Marilyn Minshall Doug is survived by his children Doug Minshall Jr , Shannon Minshall, Nichole Minshall, David Labonte, Maureen Labonte and Joseph Labonte along with many grandchildren and nieces and nephews In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and there are no plans for a service at this time

Jim passed away, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at his home in Otsego He was born May 12, 1940, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the son of Charles and Virginia (Tucker) Johnston For many years he owned and operated a nursery and had also worked in wastewater treatment throughout the Midwest In retirement, you could find him working at Bittersweet Ski Resort and was known as the “Godfather” He loved encouraging the beginners on the Bunny Hill with his homemade signs – “You’re getting better, keep going ” or “Looking Good!” Jim loved football and was an avid Chicago Bears and Blackhawks fan As a young man he played football at Calumet High School in Chicago, Illinois, which included a trip to the city championship game played at Soldier Field He also played under Coach Marv Levy during his college years at the University of New Mexico Jim was an animal lover and enjoyed talking with people He loved spending time with his family and his many friends Jim was a member of the American Nursery and Landscaping Association He is survived by his best friend of more than 42 years and wife Sharon Schroeder Also surviving are his children, James P Johnston, William (Kathy) Johnston and Julie (Fritz) Meents; grandchildren, Michelle (Brandon) Mencini, James (Erin) Johnston, Christopher Johnston, Alexandria Johnston, Russell Johnston, Derick Meents and Alyse Meents; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gianna, James and Grace; siblings, Bernard Johnston, Robert Johnston, Virginia Ross and Donald Johnston; several nieces and nephews; step-children, Sherry (Nick) Broomhead and Mark (Dana) Schroeder and step-grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Broomhead and Meganne and Nissa Schroeder He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janine Johnston According to his wishes cremation has taken place
