Peripheral Neuropathy Explained

Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when nerves in the extremities are damaged or destroyed. Like static on a telephone line, this interrupts the normal communication between the brain and the skin, muscles and other parts of the body. Therefore, continue to hold fast to Christ, which is essential for a church to remain healthy and faithful. Philippians 2:16 “It is by your holding fast to the word of life that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.” Paul’s church, like every church from time to time, will have quarrels and disunity. These women are loved by God, so Paul had faith they would work it our through their faith in Christ. To overcome division, we must first have a mind and heart of Christ. That means the Holy Spirit makes us submit to the Word of God, not to the word of man. PRAYER TIME: I praise you Lord Jesus and give thanks for your steadfast love which endures forever. Joseph James SZABO AGE 35 - OTSEGO, MI

Joseph Szabo, affectionately known as JoeJoe, passed away on October 6, 2023, following a tragic motorcycle accident. Born on July 11, 1988, in Kalamazoo, MI, JoeJoe was a beacon of joy and laughter for all who knew him. His personality and his sense of humor will be profoundly missed by his loved ones and friends. Joe went to Otsego High School class of 2006. His love for music was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to sing or dance. JoeJoe's humor was admirable, and he had an innate ability to put a smile on everyone's face. He was quick to make friends and had a heart full of love for so many. He was a man who made everyone feel like family. JoeJoe's greatest joy and accomplishment in life were his children. To his son Corbyn and daughters Molly and Addalynn, he was not just a father, but their world. He also shared a special bond with his significant other, Courtney Lewis, who stood by him through thick and thin. Their shared laughter and love were a testament to Joe's caring and selfless nature. His mother Deb was one of his biggest fans and Joe knew that. His love for her was timeless. He is survived by his mother, Deborah Stratton of Otsego, MI, and his grandfather, William Stratton, also of Otsego. Significant other Courtney Lewis, Son Corbyn, Daughters Molly and Addalynn of Otsego, MI. Nephew Mason A. Patrick. He also leaves behind his aunts Barb (Kenny) Veldhuis of Allegan, MI, and Christine (Paul) Stratton-Pritchett of Kalamazoo, MI, as well as his uncles Bill (Donna) Stratton and Randall Stratton of Otsego, MI. JoeJoe's many beloved cousins and friends will fondly remember his hearty laugh, warm hugs, and the joy he brought into their lives. Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Szabo, his grandmother Mary Jane Stratton (Willingham), and his uncle Mike Stratton. Their memories live on in the hearts of Joe's family and friends, as does his unwavering spirit and zest for life. JoeJoe's passing is a tremendous loss to his family and friends. His legacy of love, laughter, and music will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished, his life celebrated, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. Joseph "JoeJoe" Szabo was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. AGE 78 - OTSEGO, MI

Mary Alice passed away, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Kauhale in Otsego with her family by her side. She was born on February 16, 1945 to Robert and Alice “Lucille” (Orris) Porter in Gross Pointe Farms, Michigan. Mary Alice graduated from Martin High School in 1963 and began working at Upjohn as a lab technician where she retired after more than 45 years of service. On April 27, 1985 at the Otsego Church of God she married Douglas Quick. She was a member of the Otsego Church of God and her local quilting club. In her free time she enjoyed volunteering her time tutoring underprivileged children in Kalamazoo. Surviving are her brother, Bob (Mary Beth) Porter of Martin; nephew, Robert W. Porter; niece, Elizabeth (Scott) Maka of Shelbyville; many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Daisey and two step-children, Jeff Quick and Deb (Bud) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mary Alice was best known for her incredibly kind heart and love of her family. She was a selfless friend and always the first person to show up when you needed a hand. A warm smile, and quiet strength, she never complained even after her diagnosis of leukemia. Always graceful until God called her home. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Private burial of ashes will be held at South Martin Cemetery. Friend may visit with Mary Alice’s family from 12:30 – 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Otsego Church of God. Robin Anne Knauss, a woman of adventure, love, and selflessness, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, in Martin, MI. Born on May 9, 1960, Robin's zest for life and golden heart touched many lives. She was a second mom to many kids, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. Her love for the outdoors was infectious, often leading her on mushroom hunting adventures or simply enjoying a beautiful sunset. Music was a constant companion, providing a soundtrack to her life's many joys and challenges. Robin is survived by her son, Zachary Zuydwegt, and twin daughters, Cassandra Knauss-Ullrich and Aubrey (Tylor Torres) Knauss-Ullrich. Her spirit lives on in her family, special friends, and the extended family she gathered throughout her life. Robin's legacy is one of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest. This scruffy fella was brought into Wishbone’s care as a surrendered pet. Our medical team has estimated he’s just a baby ~9 months old. This goofball is not having a great time at the shelter, but is very happy anytime he’s out of his kennel! He loves to be close to people he trusts and play. He will probably be so handsome after a haircut Toto could join a home that includes other dogs, cats, and potentially older, respectful kids. Toto gets along with other dogs, so if there is a dog in the family we’ll schedule a meet to ensure they’re a good match! During his cat test, he was interested in playing with the cat but his attention could be redirected and he didn’t escalate. We always recommend slow introductions between dogs and cats! We think respectful kids 12 and older would be Toto’s best fit, but he could potentially do younger with the right kids. Apply to adopt or foster darling Toto on our website:
