Public Security The Challenge: Cities and communities are faced with the growing problem of vandalism, assault and attack incidents, not just by night, but increasingly also at daytime. In addition to the existing installed camera systems, there is a growing demand for the ability to address assailants directly and to enable emergency calls. To avoid the negative image of a eneral sur eillance t e terminals s ould also ser e as information points.

The Solution: A combined Information SOS Alarm Point Station with built-in microphone and loudspeaker. The device comes equipped with a large emergency call button and an information request button. Several extension options are available to suit individual needs: camera for direct video contact with emergency callers; monitor for visual feedback from call centre audio am lifier and orn louds ea er for addressing bystanders at longer distances; rotating beacon for indicating emergency situations, etc.; touch screen for information purposes.

Individual solutions for Parking Management The Challenge: All incoming calls within the interconnected multiple car park facility are handled by staff at the Control Centre. The customer wanted a visualisation software that had to provide a straightforward graphical overview of response times for incoming calls and the current workload.

The Solution: A software application based on the ComSDK package from our Studio software series provides Control Centre staff with a live status overview. This includes a list of incoming calls of the current day and the day before. The customer can see at a glance how many staff are on-line and ready to take calls. Key details shown include the overall workload and res onse times. Bein able to monitor t ese details allows the operator to react quickly and assign more staff at peak times.

Emergency call systems in Elevators and Lifts The Challenge: Provide a compatible Lift Intercom station with low space requirements and support of multi le manufacturers. Basic re uirements included among others: Remote checking of call button functions laybac of storey s ecific information announcements, and an inductive loop system for hearing aid support.

The Solution: The Intercom station is based on a space-saving loudspeaker/microphone module. The module provides several options, including connection of a push-button and various in-/outputs. The electronic control array can be mounted out of the way on the lift car roof and is connected to the module unit. Also mounted on top of the lift car roof are an emergency call button and a separate microphone and loudspeaker unit that serve a communication system for maintenance staff.

The Intercom eXchange protocol (ICX) is an open protocol for integrating interfaces. Using ICX, third-party systems can communicate with Commend components to exchange data, messages and control commands. What is more, the ICX protocol also enables the control of audio and video equipment to support a wide variety of solutions.

Options for future interfaces The ICX protocol can be implemented conveniently with an SDK (Software Developer's Kit) for the required external system. This enables both systems to ‘talk the same language’ and establish data exchange connections.
