I love that the Global EMPA uses video case studies to highlight the public policy issues that are so important in our work. The video quality is amazing and I’m glad to be able to have this experience. The economics and statistics courses helped me tremendously. I’ve already been able to apply the concepts we learned in class. In class, we had the chance to talk about these topics and work through them, and now I feel more comfortable thinking strategically, making decisions, and delivering my ideas at work.” Rafaela Dias Romero Transport Engineering, Rio de Janeiro City Hall

The focus here is on case studies, on actual situations that happened in places around the world. What I find most valuable in these case studies is that they define the course of action. What we learn is how to approach issues as managers – the way to look at problems in the public domain and the tools we can use to solve these problems.” Mario Rodrigo Canazza Anatel

Regardless of your profession, Columbia’s EMPA program will provide invaluable access to new tools and resources, as well as access to unparalleled faculty. For more than 60 years, Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) has trained leaders from around the world. The innovative Global Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program allows a select group of professionals who live outside the New York area and work in public, private, and nonprofit organizations to earn a graduate degree while remaining in their jobs. The program is delivered online and on Columbia's New York City campus, making the degree accessible to professionals throughout the United States. The Global EMPA curriculum focuses on the core analytical and management skills shared by all Columbia SIPA master’s programs, on a schedule that is compatible with our students’ demanding professional lives. Delivered in a hybrid online and face-to-face format, the Global EMPA engages students with online video case studies produced by an award-winning team, and allows students to participate in lectures, conferences, and seminars during on-campus sessions at one of the world’s leading public policy schools.
