FILMS

PLAYS

MUSIC

Columbia celebrates independent films. From an internationally known film fest to a local cinema, our city champions independent, creative voices.

Our city boasts three active community theatre companies. Sit back and enjoy the show—or, get involved, as these companies are always seeking volunteers.

The local music scene stays active year round with downtown venues bringing in up-and-coming artists regularly. Tribute concerts and dance parties are also popular on weekends.

(But if superhero/rom-com/comedy/blockbusters are your thing, we also have two mainstream movie theaters open seven days a week.)

CELEBRATE THE ARTS

GET READY FOR LIFE AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE

FIRST FRIDAYS On the first Friday of each month, The North Village Arts District hosts a public art crawl. Practically next door to campus, this cluster of galleries, shops and restaurants come together to showcase music, art, performances and food.

LIVING WINDOWS Every winter, Columbia’s downtown district comes alive as storefronts put on GIF-like performances in their windows. More than 40 businesses participate in Living Windows each year, and every year new characters and themes emerge. From a live Nativity scene to a portrayal of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” attendees are treated to a full buffet of holiday cheer.

You don’t have to wait until you’re a student to start preparing for life at Columbia College. 26
