‘SOON, EVERYTHING POINTED TO JESUS’ The first time I considered a religious vocation was during my senior year of high school in Greenbelt, Md. I met the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará during a volunteer trip with my parish youth group. What caught my attention was the supernatural joy that every sister had — the joy that only comes from love of Christ and one’s total gift of self to him. After that trip, I began to attend daily Mass and participated in a silent retreat. Soon, everything pointed to Jesus and a life dedicated to being his forever. It is God who shows each of us the beauty of our vocation and then gives us the freedom, as well as the graces, to follow him. The one hope that I have in living out my vocation is to strive each day to be a religious formed according to the Heart of Christ, through my vows and fidelity to the charism of inculturating the Gospel.
