by Jane Reuter Sky Ridge Medical Center, already well-reputed throughout the metro area for quality care, groundbreaking medical procedures and aesthetics, is poised for far greater success. The 10-year-old hospital breaks ground this spring on a $107 million expansion that will add 90 beds, a women’s center, a new medical office building, additional operating rooms and a parking structure. The six-story addition will increase the hospital’s size by about one-third. When the 17-month project is completed in 2014, it also will bring 300 new jobs to Lone Tree. Sky Ridge currently employs 1,100 people within its 425,000 square feet of space. Sky Ridge opened in 2003 on a 57-acre campus adjacent to Interstate 25. Its soaring, circular central tower and well-appointed interior lend it an upscale feeling designed not just to please the eye but to speed the healing process. Its impressive appearance dovetails with a reputation for top-notch care that’s drawn other medical providers to the south metro area.

“This has become a new medical epicenter of the metropolitan Denver area,” Sky Ridge CEO and President Maureen Tarrant said. “We have best-in-class physicians and surgeons. Virtually, we’ve covered every specialty. It’s a very rare scenario in which you’d have to leave this community for care.” Sky Ridge offers the latest technologies and equipment, including interventional catheterization labs for cardiac care, a 3-D radiation system for cancer treatment, and orthopedic services for spine, joints and sports injuries.
