by Vic Vela Maybe it’s the cream cheese cookie dough bow tie cookies, or the raspberry tiramisu, or the crooner who sings Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin standards to customers on the first Friday of each month. Whatever the case is, Vincenza’s Italian Bakery and Deli has been a Wheat Ridge favorite since 2001. This year’s winner of Best Bakery in Wheat Ridge, Vincenza’s is no stranger to accolades. Several food contest awards plaques adorn the walls of the eatery, located at 8000 West 44th Ave. But that doesn’t mean that winning gets old for owner Greg Allan. “It feels good because we put in a lot of hard work every day,” he said. “It’s always nice to know that the community continues to accept us. It gives you reassurance that we’re still doing something right.” Vincenza’s bakes Italian breads daily and offers a full menu of au-

thentic Italian cuisine. And their baked goodies are just too irresistible to pass up. Customers are greeted at the counter by elephant ear pastries and delicious amaretti cookies that are gluten-free, but also incredibly soft and sweet. Allan is grateful for the recognition that his restaurant continues to receive. “We’re really pleased to hear about this,” he said. “And we’re thankful that, through the recent hard economic times, that people still find good value in our product.”
