Hikes for beginners, intermediate and experts

• Quandary Peak – one of Colorado’s 14ers, Quandary is friendly but rigorous. Climbing 3,305 feet, this 6-mile hike will take you between three and nine hours to complete

The Blue River Rec Path provides an easy biking opportunity for riders of any skill level. Riders will love the miles and miles of the paved, mild path that follows the Blue River through town limits and beyond to the rest of Summit County. The Rec Path sits in the shadow of the Tenmile Range and is open to runners, hikers, dog walkers and bikes.

Summit County Parade of Homes is held annually in partnership with the Summit County Builders Association. The tour highlights new construction and remodels throughout Summit County. The 27th Annual Summit County Parade of Homes will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $20 and there are homes for viewing in Silverthorne, Keystone, and Breckenridge. Take a short drive up French Gulch Road to see the beautiful fall colors, the historic Country Boy Mine –available for tours and open year-round, the Reiling Dredge and the abandoned Lincoln Townsite. Directions: Take Wellington Road east from Main Street to the three-way intersection with Reiling Road and French Gulch Road. Continue east on French Gulch Road. The pavement ends just after the Wellington Neighborhood.

Breckenridge Strings, Ciders & Sours Festival Sept. 16-18

Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Shops offer one of the largest and widest variety of selections of glass-bottled soda pops and retro candies for sale in America, carrying unique and fun products for people of all ages. When a customer enters a Rocket Fizz store they are visually overwhelmed by the amount of colorful inventory, and what can be more fun than visiting an old-fashioned soda pop and candy shop? Near the entrance of Wetterhorn and Antero buildings.

THINGS TO DO IN BRECKENRIDGE

• Mohawk Lakes – stunning 5-mile hike that climbs to gorgeous lakes and historic ruins

You can’t miss this 15-foot tall wooden troll sculpture located on the Trollstigen Trail. The trailhead is located in the southeast corner of the Stephen C. West Ice Arena parking lot, next to Illinois Gulch Trailhead. Named Isak Heartstone, the statue was created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, who is known worldwide for bringing awareness to recycling and upcycling by building great things out of trash.

Winemakers and wine enthusiasts from around the world gather in the mountains for the annual Breckenridge Wine Classic. Experience the beauty of Breck in September while sipping on the best selection of wines from around the world. Concerts and delectable small bites add to the lively atmosphere of this late-summer festival. The Breckenridge Wine Classic offers a variety of experiences on the mountain, in restaurants, classrooms, and around town. Events are individually priced.
