Welcome to the 146th Annual Meeting Welcome to the 2016 Colorado Medical Society Annual Meeting where you will engage some of the top health care policy and political experts in the nation. A working group of our colleagues re-engineered the meeting into a motivational assembly for physicians to share, debate and learn from the best of the best. In an era of burnout and unrelenting change and stress, this gathering is intended to stimulate, entertain, and help us – peer-to-peer – remember why we became doctors. It also features new activities for families and children. Registration opens Friday at 3 p.m. All annual meeting registrants are encouraged to attend the Exhibitor Reception Friday evening to socialize and enjoy drinks and appetizers. After the reception, we'll hold a special session on ColoradoCare/Amendment 69 during which the results of the all-member survey and board discussion will be revealed. Saturday’s COMPAC-AMPAC luncheon features a lively panel discussion with Colorado's top nonpartisan analyst, AMA's federal and congressional affairs guru and our veteran lobbyist. They will assess the consequences of the presidential contest, up and down the ballot, and speculate on the various win/lose scenarios on state and federal health policy. I especially welcome you to attend the events Saturday evening. Attendees can enjoy a reception before heading to the presidential gala for dinner and dancing. Attendees will reconvene Sunday morning for breakfast with the board of directors, COPIC educational sessions and a panel discussion on physician aid in dying. Throughout the annual meeting representatives from various industries will be on hand to speak with attendees about the latest medical products and services. Don’t forget to visit with the 2016 sponsors and exhibitors to thank them for their involvement, which keeps event fees low. Best regards, Katie Lozano, MD, FACR 2016-2017 CMS President
