BBC ROBOTICS INTRODUCTION TO LEGO ‘ON STAGE’ WORKSHOP

MONDAY 26 TO TUESDAY 27 JUNE 2023

INTRODUCTION TO LEGO ‘ON STAGE’ WORKSHOP

Let’s get creative!

BBC Robotics is hosting a two-day Introduction to LEGO ‘On Stage’ Workshop during the Term 2 holidays. The workshop is suitable for boys and girls of all abilities in Years 3 to 6 and will focus on building STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills through the use of LEGO Spike Prime kits. This workshop complements RoboCup’s OnStage challenges.

Students are to design, build and program robots to perform. Participants are encouraged to be creative, as their imagination will allow them to extend and perfect a LEGO design. The workshop provides an opportunity for students to be exposed to a variety of motors, sensors and creative LEGO designs. It’s plenty of fun for the beginner builder and offers endless opportunities for creativity and extension in robotic engineering and design. Teachers and coaches will supervise the workshop. All computers and software will be provided, but students must bring their own lunch.

BBC ROBOTICS LEGO ENGINEERS WORKSHOP

MONDAY 26 TO TUESDAY 27 JUNE 2023

ROBOTICS LEGO ENGINEERS WORKSHOP

Dive into a world of walking humanoids and test your robotics engineering skills to create a successful vertical climb.

BBC Robotics is hosting a two-day LEGO Engineering Workshop during the Term 2 holidays. The workshop is suitable for boys and girls of all abilities in Years 6 to 8 and will spark curiosity about what it takes to be a robotics engineer working on software, electronics, mechanics and systems.

Students will work in small groups to develop their own walking humanoid, and just like in LEGO Masters on TV, they will test their robotics skills to create a successful LEGO-built vertical climb. LEGO Masters focuses on creating unique solutions to unconventional situations in order to help encourage and develop students’ problem-solving skills. Teachers and coaches will supervise the workshop. All computers and software will be provided, but students must bring their own lunch.

BBC ROBOTICS LEGO MECHANICS WORKSHOP

MONDAY 26 TO TUESDAY 27 JUNE 2023

ROBOTICS LEGO MECHANICS WORKSHOP

Develop an understanding of mechanical principles and gears through race car engineering.

BBC Robotics is hosting a two-day LEGO Mechanics Workshop during the Term 2 holidays. The workshop is suitable for boys and girls of all abilities in Years 5 to 7 and will focus on building STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills through the teaching and use of LEGO EV3 kits.

Students will work in small groups to design and develop a unique race car. This involves the teaching and practice of foundational mechanical engineering skills, group problem-solving and creativity in a fun and educational environment. The program is structured to support beginners in robotics and has extension opportunities to challenge more experienced students. It is designed to encourage students to explore the world of mechanical engineering, where they can learn the fundamentals of mechanical engineering principles in a simple and fun way. Teachers and coaches will supervise the workshop. All computers and software will be provided, but students must bring their own lunch.
