ART 387 PHOTO OPEN LAB (.5) (Pass/No Pass or letter grade option.) Minimum of 24 lab hours per term. Prerequisite: ART 351. The course is designed, primarily, for students concurrently enrolled in photography courses at CSM that desire additional access to the darkroom facilities. ART 355 COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY II (3) Minimum of 32 lecture-critique hours and 48 lab hours plus 16 hours by arrangement per term. Prerequisite: ART 354. Continuation of ART 354. Develops the use of color as a visual element within the photograph and refines the ability to compose and develop visual communication skills. Students choose a theme and build a coherent portfolio of color photographs with the emphasis on producing stylistically consistent images. Instruction for creating museum matted prints. ART 388 MASTER PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO (2.5) (formerly ART 374) Minimum of 16 lecture and 72 lab hours plus 32 hours by arrangement per term. Prerequisite: ART 353 and ART 391. Designed for students who have completed the Photography Program and wish to enroll in a course that allows them to produce a professional quality photographic portfolio on a topic of their choice. ART 381 BEGINNING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (3) Minimum of 48 lecture hours per term. Recommended Preparation: ART 350. Teaches photography using a digital camera and computer. Computer proficiency is required. Covers the principles of composition, use of natural light and seeing. Students use Adobe Lightroom to organize, edit and display photographs. Proficiency using a digital camera is developed. Students create photographs that are projected and critiqued in class. Extra supplies may be required. (AA, CSU, UC)

ART 391 EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1 (3) (formerly ART 360) Minimum of 32 lecture hours and 48 lab hours plus 16 hours by arrangement per term. Prerequisite: ART 351. Designed for students who have basic camera and black-and-white darkroom skills. Refinement of visual and technical skills with an introduction to experimental techniques, such as infra-red, negative image, multiple-imagery, handcoloring and others. Portfolio is produced. Introduction to digital editing and printing using current tools and software through the development of a portfolio. Designed for advanced students to refine and develop their digital editing and printing using current tools and software through the development of a portfolio. Minimum of 32 lecture hours and 48 lab hours plus 16 hours by arrangement per term. Sculpture I is an introduction to sculpture. In the class students learn to create a human figure from clay. A second work involves media such as stone, bronze, metal, or glass. The third work will be conceptual in nature. This is an introductory course; no previous experience is needed.
