Nude Summer Make-Up Trend With Summer literally right around the corner I have found myself searching for simple and easy looks while taking the kids to play dates and for last minute brunch dates with girlfriends. I typically do not purchase cosmetics from Walmart, but I wanted to create this new look on a budget. With affordability of the Rimmel London line I was able to pick-up an entire new summer look for less than $30!

When creating this new on-trend look I kept it simple: 1. Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Black 2. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in Rosetto 3. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Buff Beige 4. Rimmel Natural Bronzer 5. Glam’ Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Sun Safari 6. Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Seduce Me

Rimmel Real Beauty What’s on my lips? Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in Rossetto- This lipstick is amazing. The color is so pretty and even though I am wearing it for a subtle look, it would also look great with a smokey eye! Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Endless Summer- This is a shear lip gloss with sparkles! It’s buildable but I like to wear it on top of Rossetto for extra shine!

And why do I look a bit smug here? Because I have a secret to tell you. My face never sees sunlight. Ever. Basically I’m trying to avoid joining the Botox squad.

I use a sunscreen lotion and sometimes foundation with sunscreen. I also tan really easily so that means brown body, white face syndrome. Therefore bronzer is my friend, especially during the summer.

Trying a Natural Look for Summer Seriously, bronzer and sunglasses are my true summer must haves. I just sweep it over my face and neck and blend it in a bit and I’m good to go. I am used to using blush though, so just bronzer was kind of different. What’s the last piece of the puzzle? A little Stayglossy lipgloss. I’m more of a red tinted lip balm kinda girl so it was strange for me to try a nude color. I was paranoid that I’d look weird. Naked. No blush? No lip balm? Lipgloss with a sparkle? Actually, it worked if you ask me. The finished look felt very “I’m not trying, but I look put together” to me and really, isn’t that what we want anyway?

I sincerely did like these products, and for this price, I can definitely envision using them again.

Getting Fresh Faced & Gorgeous You may remember my last experiment with makeup here at Green & Gorgeous. It went pretty well, so that gave me some courage to keep trying new products and techniques. So when I was given the opportunity to shop for some great, affordable makeup by Rimmel and create a fresh-faced nude summer look, I jumped at the chance. Nude is really my cup of tea, because I’ve never been a big fan of makeup that is super colorful or over-the-top. Maybe I’m playing it safe, but I have a feeling that if I ever try to go crazy with color, I’ll end up making myself look like Mimi from the Drew Carey show. Remember her? Yeah. Not a good look. Of course, my daughter was watching and decided she wanted to get in on the makeup fun too. I skipped the foundation and eyeliner for her, and used the more neutral eye shadow and nude gloss. She felt like a grownup, but didn’t look like one.

1. Lighten Up Start by switching up your normal full coverage foundation to a lighter more sheer foundation (if you have amazing skin go all-natural and skip this step). If you have a ton of acne like me, it may not seem feasible. Instead, opt for a lighter foundation that still offers good coverage without the need to use a concealer. I chose to use Rimmel London’s Clean Finish Matte Foundation ($3.97), which offers enough coverage to where I was able to omit the concealer. It also minimizes my pores and contains minerals to control my oily shine all day. I also added Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder ($3.97) for a long lasting natural matte finish to ensure my oiliness did not come out throughout the day. 2. Add Warmth to your skin I like to add a nice warm glow to my skin in the summer by using a matte bronzer and applying it around my face. In the summer, I also like to use a natural bronzer instead of blush but you can always use a natural pink flushed blush on your cheeks instead of a bronzer. For this look, I chose to use Rimmel London’s Natural Bronzer ($3.97) which adds the perfect amount of warmth to my face. 3. Enhance your natural eye color Since we are trying to achieve a barely there makeup look use neutral light shades on the eyes. For this look, I opted to use Rimmel London’s Smokey Brun Glam Eyes Quad eyeshadow. I applied the lightest crème shade all over my lid, the taupe shade in my crease and the bronze shade in the outer corner. I then lightly lined my water line and lid with Rimmel London’s AMAZING Scandaleyes Kohl liner in taupe. The taupe color is more natural then black and it enhances the color of my blue eyes. 4. Pucker Up Lose the heavy lipstick and opt for a sheer lipgloss or balm that enhances your natural lip color. I chose to use Rimmel London’s Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in stay my rose. It matches my lip color and just adds a nice shine to it.

Natural Makeup for Summer I was wary of wearing a nude make-up trend on my very pale face and skeptical that any makeup could cost $3.97. However, when I discovered that I was able to buy an entire new set of makeup for $30, I was excited to revamp my style. And then I applied the make-up, which took about five minutes max, and walked away looking fresh, happy, and not so weighted down by heavy liners and lipsticks. I really loved the gloss as it gave a dewy glimmer to the entire look! Ben kept looking over at me across the living room and saying that I looked “very pretty” which is a supreme compliment.

There’s something nice about feeling like you’re wearing a youthful summer look

I love to change-up my look, especially for a date with my hubby or a night on the town with my girlfriends. Changing up your makeup is one way women love to change their look. Let’s face it; we change our minds a lot right? It’s something that women have done for as long as I know and will continue forever! I also have several friends who don’t like a lot of makeup, or they don’t like the feel of something on their face. That’s okay because there are so many options out there right now. You are bound to find something that will work with your skin type and color. I recently had a fun time doing a couple of self-makeovers with Rimmel cosmetics. You don’t have to spend a ton of money at

expensive department stores to look smoking ladies!

Beauty on a Budget Doesn’t Have to Look Cheap Rimmel makeup is a great price, but doesn’t sacrifice quality. Remember, next time you’re at Walmart check out their selection of Rimmel products and create your own summer makeup trends!

I began by applying the white shadow over the entire lid and all the way up to the brow. Then, I used the darker shade of brown on the eyelid itself, and accented with the lighter shade in the crease and corner. I didn’t use the Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner when I was going out on the beach or to the pool just because I wanted a really light and natural look, but it looks great when I’m going out on the town!

Next, it was time to tackle my “beach eyes”! I wanted to go as “nude” and neutral as possible, so I chose the three shades of eye shadow you see labeled below. They also remind me of the sand and surf...yay!

Natural Look for Summer with Rimmel Makeup My first job was to apply the Clean Finish foundation. I love that it has SPF 15 sun protection. In fact, that’s why I chose it over the Clean Finish matte foundations. I refuse to let the sun touch my face even on an ordinary day since I’m so prone to moles, so especially at the beach I like to use cosmetics that include SPF if I can. Notice how it’s not heavy looking or even very noticeable at all, but it evens out my skin tone as compared to the non-makeup photo.

Because I’m used to a heavier makeup look,

So, I moved on to bronzer! I have been using

I was initially tempted to try and layer more

Rimmel bronzer for years now and am so

color on to make it darker, but I kept

pleased with it. I lightly dust it on my forehead,

reminding myself that the point was to look

cheekbones, nose and chin for a tanned-

natural yet polished.

looking glow.

Sunkissed for Summer

Affordable Makeup

Getting sun kissed for summer was easy with Rimmel London‘s affordable makeup products. Each product costs

only $3.97 at Walmart. I created an entire new summer look for less than $30!

My attempt at the summer makeup trend started with the Clean Finish Matte Foundation. This foundation is lightweight and controls shine for up to 12 hours. I’m careful when I buy foundation because I wear it daily. I certainly don’t want something that will leave me with clogged pores. The Rimmel foundation has oil-control minerals and won’t clog pores. I used Glam’ Eyes Quad Eye Shadow to give my eyes just a hint of summer color. Next I lined my top eyelids with the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner. The eyeliner is ultra creamy and felt great as it was applied. I skipped blush and used the Natural Bronzer instead. It gave me a light sun kissed glow. My summer look was completed with the Stay Glossy Lipgloss in So Fabulous.

Complementing Red Hair with Nude Rimmel All of these Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate lipsticks were on sale so I had to grab a few. Two are nudes and two are pale pinks. After testing each color, I was pleased to see that they all paired nicely with my new hair color.

I dyed my hair the other day and that means I had to overhaul my regular makeup routine. Thankfully the summer makeup trend this year seems to be going nude, and nude works perfectly with my mega bright hair. I tend to steer away from my regular makeup when I have this color of hair. That means that I have to find some more affordable makeup to replace my regular stuff. And I was totally in luck because a ton of Rimmel products are on sale for $3.97 at Walmart right now! The packaging for these products is freaking gorgeous. They totally draw you in when you’re shopping.

Makeup Tutorial Since it’s officially summer, I have already gotten darker and I needed to phase out my lighter foundation and darker eye shadow. I went to Walmart to check out Rimmel London Cosmetics where they had a $3.97 collection! Yes, a bunch of make up items for $3.97 each! Here’s what I ended up getting: • Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 113 & Bordeaux • Rimmel Clean Finish Matte Foundation in Natural Beige • Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Black and Turquoise • Glam Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Smokey Brun (002) • Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Here To Stay (230) • Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Glow Because I STILL can’t believe it, I will repeat myself.
