Friday 6 September After years in the making, Cast will launch on Friday 6 September. On the same day a new project called Right Up Our Street launches, which aims to get more people taking part in art, music, theatre, film, dance, radio and poetry. Celebrate with us in a breath-taking explosion of performance and creativity taking place outside Cast on the public square. Two incredible projects, one spectacular event, a Cast of Thousands – not to be missed.

For our first production we wanted to make sure we had something that was unique to Doncaster, was full of fun and laughter, and that added to the celebratory party atmosphere of our opening. We believe we’ve found this in The Glee Club.
The Glee Club A song-filled comedy and a cracker of a play charting the lives and heartaches of a group of miners from Edlington. From Doncaster’s leading playwright, Richard Cameron, this show is funny, moving and full of Yorkshire charm (not to mention songs!). In the past the show has played in the West End and across the UK. Now this brand new revival celebrates our town, our new venue and the unique stories that come from our part of the world. There are many stories from ‘up North’ full of the spirit of Northern folk. You only have to think of Brassed Off, Billy Elliott, The Pitmen Painters, The Full Monty or Calendar Girls to name a few. The Glee Club is Doncaster’s own offering to these great Northern tales – and it won’t disappoint. Come and celebrate with us by enjoying a heartwarming and laugh-out-loud funny show. Saturday 21 September Doncaster duo Rita Payne are a folk, blues and roots act with great tunes, a hint of darkness and a nice dash of humour. Using faultless vocal harmonies and catchy hooks Rhiannon Scutt and Pete Sowerby effortlessly create a sound that is unique and interesting. In this intimate gig they perform songs from their debut album Stories From A Suitcase.

Particle Velocity Tuesday 8 October Formed in Leeds over 30 years ago, Phoenix Dance Theatre has toured the world to international acclaim. We are planning a number of projects through Right Up Our Street, that will offer a range of opportunities for participation in some ambitious homegrown productions. We are keen to hear from performers with some experience (gained either in the amateur, university or higher education sector).
We are delighted to be working in partnership with Orchestras Live on a project that will bring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to Cast. The RPO will perform a series of concerts for 1,200 young people from the borough. A first-time orchestral concert experience that is exciting and inspiring.

Cast is located in Doncaster’s new Civic and Cultural Quarter. This is in the Waterdale part of the town centre. We are the big, copper fronted building on the new Sir Nigel Gresley Square.
The main space, second space and box office areas have hearing loops and all spaces have infrared hearing panels, which can also accommodate Audio Described performances. All areas are accessible via lift. There is also a changing places room for people with specific needs.
