Coastal Bend College (CBC) proudly focuses on student success in all we do at our four locations in Beeville, Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton. Each year we serve about 4,000 students, and we look forward to welcoming you into the CBC family. Each of our locations offers a variety of workforce programs, university transfer/ core curriculum courses and Student Success Centers with computer labs. CBC Beeville is one of the few community colleges to offer student housing. Benton Hall provides dormitories for over 120 students, and our 20 one-bedroom CBC apartments give students a place to call home for the year. Students at CBC have access to free events, student clubs and workshops that help enhance their student experience.

Our workshops bring student learning to a new level by taking learning out of the classroom. From career workshops to study socials to cultural events, students get to learn and have fun alongside their peers. CBC students also cheer on our six National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) teams: women’s basketball, softball and volleyball, and men’s baseball, basketball and soccer. Go Cougars! You’ve heard that community colleges are more affordable and have smaller classes than a university, and that’s definitely true at CBC. So, what makes us the best choice for you? At CBC, success happens here. Our faculty and staff work hard to ensure each student succeeds. Choose CBC—we’ll have a seat waiting for you.

Coastal Bend College’s Office of Dual Enrollment provides high school juniors and seniors with an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.

A CBC dual enrollment student may have to pay as little as $0-$150 in tuition per three semester hour course.

Many of the same high school courses a student would have to take such as English, history, biology or speech may be eligible for college credit, too.

In addition to offering many of the core, or basic, courses we also offer workforce programs that help students explore various careers while working towards a certificate or degree.

This means a high school student can potentially graduate from high school as a college freshman or sophomore.

Workforce program options* include welding, nursing (CNA), law enforcement and oil and gas technology.

Ultimately, this can save students and their parents thousands of dollars each semester. A year of tuition at a public university can cost over $10,000. At a private university, those amounts could triple to over $30,000.

Although dual enrollment students pay less for courses and are in high school, they enjoy the same student services and benefits of a regular college student such as free tutoring, library access and a dedicated advisor. *CBC workforce programs vary by location and high school. Contact your high school counselor for details.

With over one dozen workforce programs, Coastal Bend College is bound to have the perfect career or vocation for you. Our workforce programs are constantly evolving to meet the demands of the Coastal Bend job market, and our small class sizes ensure you get the hands-on training you need to succeed in the field. Many of our workforce programs have options that allow you to complete a Marketable Skills Achievment Award or a Level I Certificate in as little as one year. A Level II Certificate or Associates of Applied Science degree takes about two years and includes core curriculum courses designed to give you a wellrounded, comprehensive education. Classroom instruction is supplemented with hands-on training during laboratory courses that allow students to implement the processes behind the theory.

Our workforce graduates are now some of the many nurses, cosmetologists, welders, business owners and dental hygienists, to name a few, working in our communities. The average starting salary of graduates from our two-year allied health programs (radiologic technology, nursing and dental hygiene) is $57,580. Our other workforce program graduates make an average of $36,000 their first year after graduation. We have HIRE expectations at CBC. Our programs lead to great jobs. Imagine a place where you can take the same basic courses you need for nearly any Bachelor’s degree at an affordable price in classrooms where the faculty will definitely know your name. That’s what Coastal Bend College is all about. Our core curriculum (“basics”) transfer to most Texas public colleges and universities. Small class sizes of about 20 students allow for lively discussions about the civil war in history class, interactive lessons during biology lab and one-on-one help during algebra. Furthermore, at CBC every student has a dedicated faculty advisor to go to for everything from registering for courses to obtaining tutoring to making sure they’re on the right track towards graduation. A

student’s dedicated faculty advisor is their go-to person during their college career at CBC. All of our core courses are offered face-toface, but many are also offered online or in a hybrid format for students who need more flexibility. Our Accelerated Learning Academy offers minimester options in May and December, as well as flex course options during fall and spring that allow students to complete classes in as few as three weeks. Overall, spending a year or two at CBC before transferring to a university better prepares you for success in upper-level courses related to your intended major. Plus, you’ll end up with two degrees for your wall—one from CBC and one from a university.
