Welcome to the 73rd issue of Coast 2 Coast Magazine. This issue is a bittersweet as we prepare to say goodbye to the Coast 2 Coast Magazine as we know it in the next few issues. As many other magazines have done, we will be discontinuing the issues of Coast 2 Coast Magazine. Have no fear though, this is not the end of Coast 2 Coast as a whole. We still have the Largest Artist Showcase In The World at coast2coastlive.com and of course the most downloaded mixtape series in the world at coast2coastmixtapes.com. We look forward to continuing to push the culture in other mediums and bringing independent music to the masses.

Issue 73 features the rising independent star GOGETIT who also hosted a volume of the infamous Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Series. Ride along with us as we drive through the world of GOGETIT in the 73rd issue of Coast 2 Coast Magazine.

Born in Detroit and now residing in the south of Mississippi, GOGETIT aka Edmond Monroe has learned to adapt and excel with change. From losing his mom at age 11 and becoming a father himself at 16, he was forced to live on the streets while still a teenager. GOGETIT is the story of the underdog, but even the underdog has it’s day. Listing LL Cool J as one of his first inspirations, he could be considered a Hip Hop head but let him tell it and he is what Hip Hop needs now. The GOGETIT movement started in 2013 and is now touching people from New York to Los Angeles. He claims that his name really says it all…. ‘GO GET THE AMERICAN DREAM”. GOGETIT has been on numerous mixtapes from Coast 2 Coast as well as other DJs across the country. He first gained notoriety by hosting volume 332 of the Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Series and now ends up on the cover of Issue 73 of the magazine. His grind as an independent artist has been paying off and there is no telling what is in store for GOGETIT for the rest of 2017 and beyond.

INDEPENDENT HUSTLERS JAY$ILVER The young auditory Pablo Picasso by the stage name of Jay$ilver was born in Queens, New York in April of ‘93. Ever since a young boy he was already on the music scene freestyling at the lunch tables or during recess at P.S. 135 on Hillside Avenue as early as 3rd grade on, and even at I.S. 109 in the village by “the ave” or Jamaica Avenue, already heavily influenced by the hip-hop culture of his birth land. He was born in a single parent household only raised by his mother who was struggling to make ends meet in the expensive city of NY so in 2006 he moved to Dallas, Texas where his musical influences grew and changed to a different sound but he always remembered his East Coast roots. During my high school times he had a lifestyle similar to what Kendrick Lamar described in “The Art of Peer Pressure” in which if he wasn’t in class he was usually “with the homies” and this had a shaping on his musical abilities as they would always ride around and freestyle to new beats they found further diversifying my abilities as he would always write as well but never revealed his written verses as he wanted to “save em for payment.” Graduating in 2011 from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas he received an academic scholarship to Baylor University and so continued to pursue a medical career, as this was also one of his interests,

helping people with the power of science. However though these years he realized more and more that he wanted to pursue his true dream of helping the world through his amazing lyrical prowess and influencing a generation with his powerful punch lines and stories. So he performed a few times back home in his home city of New York at a Brooklyn nightclub as well as small venues around the Baylor University campus in Waco, Texas. Now after releasing his first major EP titled “First Class” insinuating it as his first lecture to the world on the art of Hip-hop music bringing it back to the essence of music with a message/story within it but still infusing today’s prominent features of catchiness and “hype-ness” into his songs to catch ears of all generations. Catch this kid on the rise as he is performing at more venues across the nation after going on his first National Tour in 2016 and is steadily releasing more of his “golden lyrics” but will still forever freestyle for the masses in a city near you after releasing 2 new singles at the end of last year from the next tape Heat Wave EP Jay$ilver is truly changing the game with his diverse verses and multiple talents. Book him TODAY to generate some revenue for your music venue!

NEWINDUSTRYTIPS STREAMING IS THE NEW W W W. N E W I N D U S T R Y T I P S . C O M

MUSIC

BUSINESS BY: LIL FATS

In 2017 it is finally clear that streaming is here as the new medium in which music is being consumed. Streaming is not just the future of the music industry, streaming is the now. This means both positives and negatives for the artists and labels that use streaming as a way to get music to consumers. While labels have cut back end deals with companies like Spotify and Apple to give artist less than what they think is their fair share, streaming is still big business for artists and producers - not just the labels. Artists who are lucky enough to have records take off on the streaming platforms are seeing their fare share of income. The royalties from hundreds of millions of streams adds up, not to mention the promotion that comes along with being on the charts and top playlists of the streaming platforms. The popularity of streaming has also caused a paradigm shift in the RIAA certification of records, with old songs from artists catalogue being available to their new fans to rack up streams. For example, Hip Hop veteran Tech N9ne just received his first Platinum Certification from the RIAA for one of his old singles thanks to new streaming numbers being added to his old sales. While veteran artists benefit from their old catalogue, new artists are also reaping the benefits of the new streaming landscape. Newcomers are finding it much easier to break into the scene by landing on poplar playlist from Spotify, Apple, etc. Some of these playlists have millions of followers and can literally take a song from no plays to a hit record if it ends up on the right playlist. Like any fundamental shift of an industry, there is an upside and downside to streaming whether you are the labels or the artists but the group of people who are always winning are the fans. We get to enjoy virtually unlimited free music at any time and place - guilt free.

However, there is one word that ties them all together and is true to his character: NED is Real. Few people create so honestly from their heart and soul. NED does so in just the right way, combining art, story, and song in perfect unison.

So she that the only way she would let me pass the class if I got in this talent contest. So I did for the grade and got 2 place. How did you first become a recording artist? Music was all around me when I was young and I was writing lyrics and poetry at the age of 7. Being around my grandma blasting the oldies all day definitely had an influence on my passion for music. Believe it or not my first record was recorded on the home alone recorder so technically I’ve been recording since then. I use to record myself then play it back on the cassette. However, I

officially started recording on a legitimate microphone around 17. When I was in high school a couple of classmates would make beats on the table and I would just freestyle over them in the lunchroom. After seeing the impact I had on people, I decided to take it serious and I invested in myself. http://www.reverbnation.com/ onehunnid

WINNERS CIRCLE SHOWCASE WINNERS When and how did you become a recording artist? When 2002-2003 I first started to record once I figured out I could record through an old school type boom box lol, I was listening to Dr.dre chronic the 2001 chronic, so one I heard my voice pop through the speakers through a pair of head phone plugged into the mic part of this radio it was mine blowing to hear my self over music, so I went down to cheapo and bough the instrumental version and me, my cusin and my homeboy started playing around with it. Where are you currently based out of? South Side Minneapolis, Minnesota. Who are your musical influences? 2pac, Nas, Dr.dre, Eminem, E-40, C-Bo, Master-p & No Limit, Cash Money, juelz Santana, an joeBudden, just to name a few.

KINGOSO 20

How do you define success? Being successful to me means Health, and raising my children without the stress of me wondering if I am ever going to make enough money being a 2 time felon to put my 7 kids through college 1 day. Being happy also plays a big role in the way I define success.

I mean u can have money & power an not be happy,... that’s not success to me. Your kids & wife reaping the benefits of you following your dreams in passion is beyond success to me.

What have you accomplished so far in your career? Stage fright, capturing my target audience, putting my own money behind myself, and also realizing I’m my best & biggest investment. I’ve managed to perform at multiple shows in the past year, I’ve been on coast2coast live right here in my city. I went through the process of paying for publishing and writing rights through ASCAP, and I’ve also shot my first real video 7/15/17 completed 1 real fully mixed & masted album titled Eviction Notice man I could go on for days. What do you have planned for 2017? WORK! WORK! WORK! And more work I just want to stay consistent ya know. I also plan to move my act around the map because the world is much bigger then Minnesota, bigger venues, radio, and get my music out to ppl through every outlet possible.

KINGOSO

WINNERS CIRCLE SHOWCASE WINNERS When and how did you become a recording artist? I officially became a recording artist in Summer of 2016, but had been writing music since 2009-10. I had been shopping around different studios with an artist named Sauce Lawd and we finally found one run by a producer named Shane Alexander. Since recording with him, the development of my sound has progressed exponentially. Thus far, I’ve only gone to him for my music production as often as I can. Where are you currently based out of? I’m a DMV based artist, born in D.C and grew up in PG County of Maryland, but I currently attend college in Cincinnati, OH. How do you define success? People often depict success by money, but would influence. I want to be able to inspire people to chase dreams on and off the stage. To be able to touch the hearts of people regardless of whether or not they listen to the music is truly a milestone I intend to reach. Who are your musical influences? Regarding Hiphop influence, legends like 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne inspire me

because of the uniqueness in the voice, wordplay, and delivery. Growing up, I was also a heavy watcher of Anime which people would tend to add rock music behind, introducing me to the sounds of Papa Roach, Falloit Boy, and other artists of that nature. Among my peers, I would say Lil Uzi also influences me because of his blend of hiphop and alt. Rock and his carefree attitude. What have you accomplished so far in your career? So far, I’ve booked several gigs simply based on my music and even won a contest for the visuals to my song ‘EVOL’ twice. It doesn’t feel like I’ve accomplished too much because I’m essentially building a wave from still water, but I know my music has gotten me looks from “higher ups.” With such a unique and versatile sound, it’s hard for people not to notice, regardless of whether they like it or not.

Success is setting a personal goal and accomplishing it, no matter what it is, no matter how big it is, as long as you are happy and getting stuff done you’re successful.

The Ratchet Gxds produced a good portion of ‘Pen Piper’ , who else did you have on there and what did they bring to the table?

What has been the most rewarding experience of your career thus far?

My boy Symphony produced most of “White Flag”. It was funny because I gave him an acapella of myself while we were visiting LA last April. He had a rough idea done within an hour and im like Dog...this is nuts. Cain later added some other wonderful sounds that made this record a smashington. I wanted to pitch it but we all pretty much agreed we couldnt hear anyone but me on it lol. MindKilla produced Havoc with Junkie. Which...I heard that track and I was perfectly in my feelingsat the right time that it was sent to me... and here we are lol. Analogic put drums on Good Luck. Something light to add a bounce to the ballad, and John “Evo” Evola added guitar to the background which puts you in a strance. so light but it did so much. And of course, J. Alston. One night I was out getting mac & cheese with Junkie and he played “Dirty Sneakers” in the car. I stopped him and was like YO! who is this?! his voice stands out like no one ive heard before. So I reached out to him and asked if I could remix the track for the project. He also did some dope adlibs in the back of Ape Shxt. His music is so dope so it was only right to have him on there. How is ‘Pen Piper’ different from your last project ‘Spoiled Interior’? Spoiled Interior was more of a reflection of what I had just experienced. Fresh out of a bad management deal, shaky relationship...and it was a self evaluation almost. Like ok, I just fell through a glass door, and im just in shock from going through that. Pen piper is like me

Its not the placements. While that feels good to accomplish, It has been the amount of people who hit me and tell me that I inspire them. That’s the reason I do this. To touch peoples lives. If not through my words, through my drive & ambition. What advice can you give new songwriters and artists trying to follow their dream of making it in the music industry? You have to have tough skin. Understand that you dont understand this industry, you dont know it all...stay humble but confident. You have to be able to do what others WONT , so eventually you can live how they CANT. this is a full time lifestyle, not part time. excuses dont exist. Believe in yourself, or others wont. Simply endure the worst. Because that will make you into a diamond. What’s next on Kaydence’s agenda? I’m working on a Project with my friend RC called “Retrograde”. We are pretty much done, and plan to release in the summer. A vocal kit is in the works for my producer friends, and a Pop EP I’ll also be working on. Not slowing down anytime soon! Where can we find you online? IG @kaydencevisus Twitter @Kaydenceis and Penpiper.com will go live 3.15.17. Any last minute shouts? Shoutout to my team Anothr Breed, My Family, my manager J Hatch, iStandard and all my constant supporters. I love you all, and thank you for being a part of my journey.
