In the field of anaent numismatics, over the last thirty years, there has been a large output of fixed price lists and auction catalogues. Some by fly-bynight companies, others by small dealers and more by long established firms. Of these catalogues and fixed price lists, a few stand out as being essential to any good numismatic library, for their superb cataloguing, wonderful photography and breadth of material. Among these firms are: Bank Leu, Numismatic Fine Arts, M체nzen und Medaillen, Frank Sternberg, the joint sales by Adolph Hess and Bank Leu, Numismatica Ars Classica, Bankhaus Aufh채user and of course CNG (a totally unbiased commentary). In these sales, you will find nearly every rarity that has come on the market over the last 30 years. Many overlook the value of auction catalogues to a good library, but in these sales you will find excellent research and photographs of coins not illustrated anywhere else. Complete runs of the sales are very difficult to find, and while none of the following lots offer complete runs, they do include substantial runs which will be a great addition to any library.
