Illustration: Cheerful illustrations that tell a visual narrative that the toddler can “read” on their own. It also provides necessary visual stimulation and assists in conveying concepts and meanings.

Here the difficult or new idea of an “ark” is explained through the picture of a large boat with the animals.

Prayer: From a young age, we teach children to pray. The prayer serves as an example to expose the toddler to the nature and habit of prayer. The prayer is a confirmation of the promise. The prayer

in the Noah’s ark story is a confirmation that God forgives us and gives us a New Beginning when we say sorry for th bad things we do.

Gift Icon: My First Promise Bible emphasizes five of God’s core promises. To make these core promises easy for young children to understand, they are illustrated as gifts. Every Bible story identifies one of the five core promises or gifts. The five gifts are: God’s love, The Holy Spirit, New beginning, Family, I belong to God.

The gift illustrated in the story of Noah’s ark is “New Beginning”.

Noah’s ark GENESIS 6:5-9:19

Noah made God happy, just as we should do. God was sad. The people had stopped listening to him. They were doing bad things to each other. So, God decided that he would send a flood to cover the world with water. There was one man called Noah who always listened to God. This made God very happy. One day, God told Noah to build an ark – an enormous boat with many rooms. Noah, his family, and every kind of animal, insect and bird would be safe in the ark when the flood came. Noah listened to God, and he did what God asked him to do. When everyone was safely in the ark, God shut the doors. Then it began to rain. It rained and it poured – for forty days and forty nights. There was so much water that even the mountain peaks were covered. When it stopped raining, God sent a strong wind to dry up the water. When they finally got out of the ark, they saw a beautiful rainbow. It was God’s promise that he would never send another flood like that again.

P R AY E R

Thank you that you forgive me for all the bad things that I do. I also want to make you happy. Amen.

Key Concept: The key concept at the top of each story is the key to the central message of the story and the gift.

In this story we see how God gives a gift of a New Beginning to Noah’s family and the animals. Noah’s trust in God made God happy.

Story: Each story is written in simple language to align with the developmental and comprehension level of the toddler. The toddler should be able to easily follow and understand the stories.

Difficult words like “ark” are explained in words and through the illustrations.

Find the Mouse!: In every story, there is a mouse or cute animal, echoing something in the story. See what the mouse or little creature tells you about the story.

The mouse in Noah’s ark is dancing with joy and happiness at a New Beginning after the rain has dried up.
