Parisite New Orleans DIY Skatepark Part of a design-build architecture studio, the design for New Orleans’s first skatepark was created out of a collaboration with the Tulane City Center and local skaters from the Parisite Collective. The design build studio group worked together through schematic design, design development and construction docments to make a space for the community and skaters. Once approved by the city, fabrication of skatable benches, bike racks, and rails were made off site. Officially opened to the public February 2015, Parisite has added amenity to the NOLA skating community and extended the role of the Tulane City Center.

Tanzakademie New Orleans School of Dance

The New Orleans School of Dance is a comprehensive design project incorporating building systems and code into a creative center for dance in the heart of the Warehouse District of New Orleans. Situated near the WW2 Center and the French Quarter, this dance school acts as a beacon for exuberance and change. A living facade will continuously change the appearance of the school throughout the seasons as the native plants bloom and grow.

Arts + Music School Urban Intervention Roma, Italia

This urban intervention infilled a vacant lot along Via Giulia that is riddled with old ruins. Straddling history and the need for new amenities, the arts and music school adds a level of entertainment to this neighborhood through its integration of outdoor gardens and collaborative student housing.

Morgan City, LA Shrimp +Petroleum Center The Morgan City Shrimp+Petroleum is located along the Atchafalaya River. Shrimping and the oil industry are vital to the city, yet pose challenges. As the levee wall protects against future flooding, it also acts as a visual barrier between the downtown and the waterfront. This museum seeks to create a new connection to the other side of the wall through its bridge-like branching form. The public will learn the history of both industries while seeing them perform in real time.

Louis Armstrong Musician Center New Orleans, LA

Located in the French Quar ter, this center creates a space for local and visiting ar tists to stay and perform. A lively center filled with color and energy revolves around an outdoor performance space for shows. Individual musicians’ apar tments are on the upper levels with practice rooms interspersed for a symbiotic living-playing atmosphere.

Surface Making: Group Project

This project used a limited budget of $25 at a recycling center to reinterpret a ‘sittable’ surface. Reclaimed doors, metal rods and twine were the chosen materials. The concept derived from folding planes that undulate and transform their shape and form when locked together.

House Le:

Enrique Nor ten

A case study of House Le in Mexico City was conducted to propose an intervention. After studying the residence, it was necessary to propose an extended louvered screen. Wrapping around the house, the continuation of the louvered screen maintains an element of privacy in the public zone while simultaneously creating a cohesive physical presence.

Planar Extension: Material Assembly

Working with two materials, the challenge was to balance a piece of plywood with the thin edge of plywood permitted to touch the ground. The design concept was for the wood to float above the ver tical plane at a skewed angle.

Warped Compression This form was organically formed in Rhino3D and then built to explore the spatial qualities within the warping and twisting wood.

(Un)fold the Cube Starting with a pervect cube, a series of carvings were made to transform the cube into a multi-faceted object to be read on all sides as if unfolding.
