Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers will wrap up their regular season series with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The last time these two teams squared off, Antawn Jamison and Ramon Sessions combined to score 35 of the Cavs 61 bench points, but the Wolves shot 18-26 (.692) from long distance to win 129-95 at the Target Center on Dec. 4. Cleveland has won nine of the last 10 games against Minnesota, including four straight at Quicken Loans Arena, and lead the all-time series 27-14. The Cavs have knocked down 22 three-pointers in their last two home games, including a season-high 12 triples against Utah last Monday. Daniel Gibson finished with a career-high 29 points and made seven three-pointers on eight attempts (.875) against the Jazz. On the season, Gibson is shooting a team-best 55-124 (.444) from long range, while teammate Anthony Parker is right behind him at 37-84 (.440). Parker has also scored in double figures five straight games from Dec. 12-20. The Timberwolves are the top rebounding team in the league at 45.3 boards per game. Minnesota is also averaging 102.3 points (8th in NBA) and is led by Kevin Love, who is averaging 20.8 points and an NBA-high 15.5 rebounds in 35.6 minutes per game. The third-year forward shot 5-5 from beyond the arc and finished with 28 points and 19 rebounds against the Cavs on Dec. 4. After tonight, the Cavs will host the Orlando Magic on Tuesday before traveling to Charlotte to face the Bobcats on Wednesday.
Cavs guard Anthony Parker has been one of the Cavs best three-point shooters this season, connecting on 37-84 (.440) from long range and scoring in double figures five straight games from Dec. 12-20.
