Scott Kidd Assistant Coach • 2nd Season Scott Kidd is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Clemson Women’s Tennis Program. Kidd is a five-time NAIA National Coach of the Year, and won six total NAIA Team National Championships as a head coach of both the women’s and men’s programs at Auburn University-Montgomery. In his first season, Kidd helped Clemson to a berth in the Sweet 16, and has already made his presence felt on the recruiting trail, where he has brought in numerous top international prospects. Kidd is known around the world as one of the top developers of young talent, and has built a reputation of scouring the planet for gems to bring into the storied Clemson program. Nancy Harris was the head coach at Auburn University-Montgomery before coming to Clemson 14 years ago. While at AUM, Harris won two men’s NAIA Team Championships and one women’s NAIA Team Championship. Her teams reached the Finals eight total times. Kidd has followed in her footsteps, coming to Clemson after six seasons in Montgomery, where he coached the women’s team for six seasons and the men’s team for the final two. In that time, he led the women’s team to five National Championships, and won the 2010 men’s Championship as well. He was named the Wilson/ITA National Women’s Coach of the Year in 2008 after winning a fourth consecutive National Championship. “Whenever you mention the name Coach Scott Kidd in coaches circles around the world and across the nation, his name is recognized as one of the best and most sincere coaches,” said Harris. “He is respected for his work ethic, integrity, and his genuine care for the student athlete. Coach Kidd cares about people and it shows by his constant effort to help others reach their goals. He is always trying to help another be their best and his results and the success of his former programs show how much he cares. We are

This team has a tremendous amount of history, and I look forward to helping add to the prominence of Clemson nationally. “ Kidd not only brings experience as a head coach, but has worked at several other universities in various administrative and tennis capacities. Prior to his time as a head coach at AUM, he spent three seasons as an assistant. Prior to that, he spent three seasons in Tigerville, SC at North Greenville, where he led the men’s and women’s team to NCCAA Championships in 2002. “I am excited for the level of play at Clemson. The ACC is the premier tennis conference nationally, and Clemson has been a mainstay atop the league. I have prepared myself to help our student-athletes succeed on and off the court, and look forward to further successes in Clemson.” He has been involved in education for his entire career, earning an Associate of Arts Degree from Enterprise State Junior College in 1997, a School Administrator and Teaching Certificate in Accelerated Christian Education in 1998, a BS in organizational management from Virginia Intermont in 2001, and a BS in business administration from AUM in 2010.
