Clark University

New at Clark

Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design

A hub of creative activity on central campus, the Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design inspires Clarkies’ entrepreneurial thinking and creates new opportunities for collaboration by students and faculty from across the University in teaching, research, and innovation.

The first floor includes an AR/VR lab, multimedia gallery, makerspace, robotics lab, active learning classroom, and flexible classroom space. A second-floor incubator space will overlook the lobby, showcasing students at work on innovative projects. Other floors will include a tiered classroom, audio/video production and recording areas, and data science and analytics, network simulation, graphic design, and computer labs.

This interdisciplinary space will house Becker School of Design & Technology and our acredited interactive media design major (ranked #4 in the world by The Princeton Review), the computer science department, and the production elements of our screen studies and music majors.

“I’ve found that faculty here are just as excited about meeting students as students are to meet faculty! They’re excited about my school work, but also about what I’m doing outside of school. They always ask what I’m involved in and where I see myself going academically.

Everyone is so friendly and prioritizes community.”

Clark University was founded in 1887 by Jonas Clark, a Massachusetts businessman who made his fortune selling furniture, carriages, and tin. Inspired by the experiences of graduate students in Europe, Jonas Clark decreed that the University would provide “the utmost breadth and freedom both of teaching and of investigation.” Clark was one of the first all-graduate university in the United States, specializing in psychology. Today, we offer more than 50 areas of study at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, combining a liberal arts curriculum with incredible research opportunities.
