C-J Mat-Men Go Out For The Pin The attitude of the Chaminade - Julienne Wrestling Team was a very unique one; it was to symbolize and honor Michael Loffer. Mike was a fun person; we had a lot of fun. Mike was a competitive athlete; we were a competitive team. This inspiration gave direction to the 1978-79 team under coach Bob Borgerding. We were involved in tournaments for the majority of the season and the team placed consistently in the top 4. The high point of the season was winning the C-J Invitational, an event involving 6 teams. We had 7 seniors and 5 returning lettermen which served as a solid foundation for the team. We had 4 district qualifiers, in which Mike Raiff placed 5th, the best finish on the team for the season. Captain Mike Smith won the Journal Herald rating and took all-area honors with his 26-2 season record.

Chaminade - Julienne can be proud of the 7879 Wrestling Team, for it displayed a character of dedication and spirit which is necessary on any successful team. We'd like to thank our devoted fans and parents for their great support, and Mr. Borgerding who has made wrestling a most rewarding .sport for us. Mike Smith
