CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

TRADING UPDATE After a steady start in January, trading momentum has built throughout the quarter. I note that our restaurants have traded steadily throughout the quarter with members taking advantage of the membership renewal promotion. Another positive outcome has been the substantial reduction in creditors throughout the quarter. All bank covenants have been met. The new Government laws to combat drunken violence in the CBD area have impacted our Club. The Government Lockouts from 1:30am, introduced on 10 February 2014, has affected our Club gaming resulting in a reduction in Gaming revenue of $780,000 per annum for 2014 and beyond. CTC is the only club in New South Wales that has to accommodate this new law due to our location within the CBD (new Sydney CBD entertainment precinct) and due to our extended trading hours that we offer to members and guests. After nine (9) weeks of reduced trade, we have allowed for a $780,000 reduction in Gaming revenue per annum at this stage. We believe this amount will increase over time. The Club has received many comments from members and guests who have been refused entry after 1:30am since commencement. They very openly comment that they will now change their habit and no longer visit CTC but will

now visit the Casino or a number of other clubs or pubs who operate outside of the new Sydney CBD entertainment precinct. They have shared the names of all venues that they intend to visit. CTC intends to alert the NSW Government of this situation that is occurring, as we believe that this was not the Government’s intention. We hope that in time this situation is rectified by way of equal legislation for all entertainment venues, including clubs and pubs! This situation reflects again the importance of the Club’s proposed Airspace Development for the future of our Club!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Don’t forget that the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in the Celebrity Room on Tuesday 27 May 2014 at 6:00pm. If you are able to attend, please do so. The Club’s Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for 2013 and the outlook for 2014 and beyond will be presented. The Business of the 2014 Annual General Meeting is also advertised in this magazine.

LIFE MEMBERS LUNCH As usual, a resolution will be put to members at the AGM to elect new Life Members with 40 years continuous CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB • MAY - JULY 2014 EDITION

3

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE membership. If carried, a celebratory lunch will be held for those 193 new Life Members in the Celebrity Room on Friday 30 May 2014 at 12:00pm. At the lunch, Life Member badges will be presented. This is always a wonderful occasion and our opportunity to recognise and thank those members for their loyalty and support over many years.

COMMITTEE ELECTIONS The Committee elections will be held in May 2014. This election will again be determined by a postal ballot and the results will be announced on Friday 30 May 2014. I urge all Gold, Silver and Life members to cast your vote. The nominations for the 2014 Committee Elections close at 5.00pm on Thursday, 24 April 2014. The notice in respect of Committee elections was published in the previous edition of the magazine.

AIRSPACE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE I would like to thank members for attending the last Airspace Briefing Meeting (4) along with visiting the Club website, and viewing the newly installed Members Information Display Area near the entrance to the Lower Bar. The feedback to date has been very encouraging especially as we enter this exciting time.

4

CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB • MAY - JULY 2014 EDITION

I would like to alert members to the next four (4) Airspace Briefing Meetings to occur on 15 April, 20 May, 27 May and 26 June 2014. Members will have the choice to attend the final Airspace Briefing Meeting during the evening on 26 June or the day time on Monday 30 June. Please note the date changes for Airspace Briefing Meeting 5 to 8, along with the proposed members vote period. I would like to refer all members to pages 8 - 21 of this magazine for more information on the proposed development including indicative floor plans of the future Club, member communication dates for all remaining meetings along with the proposed voting timelines. The Club will endeavour to meet the proposed timelines, however, these dates maybe extended to ensure members receive all pertinent information regarding the proposed development.

TIERED LOYALTY SYSTEM In 2014 the City Tattersalls Club will be launching a four tiered loyalty program called ‘Stature Rewards’. The name ‘Stature’ refers an achieved level of status. Stature Rewards will provide members with a rewards program including earning bonus points and benefits which recognises members’ spend throughout the entire Club departments ie. Food / Beverage / Boonoona Ski Lodge

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE and Gaming. Members will then be able to redeem their accumulated points through a number of options including food and beverage purchases, Connect EFTPOS Cards, membership renewals or to pay utility bills. The Stature Rewards Program is to be introduced into the Club from late July 2014 with exciting new promotions on offer. Further details on Stature Rewards can be found on page 22 of the magazine.

MEMBERS’ BADGE DRAW The $30,000 City Tattersalls Club Members’ Badge Draw has commenced again, with the Jackpot starting at $5,000. Draws will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. This will jackpot by $1,000 every week. If a Badge Draw winner is not selected during the calendar month, then a guaranteed $10,000 Bonus Badge Draw will take place on the last Thursday of the month at 8.30pm. This additional $10,000 will be won on these evenings! Remember you must be present to win. Please refer to page 27 in the magazine for more information.

Back of House: M s Adriana Nicolau I congratulate the winners and all other employees who received nominations for these awards.

BOONOONA SKI LODGE BOOKINGS There are still vacancies at Boonoona Ski Lodge, but be quick. All Gold, Silver and Life Members have access to City Tattersalls Club Boonoona Ski Lodge located at Perisher Valley in the beautiful Kosciusko National Park. The Lodge is conveniently located only moments away from the Skitube Terminal, Lifts and Perisher Centre. For unbelievable value this winter, book now to experience an exciting ski holiday. For more information see pages 24-25 or call the Customer Service Centre on 02 9267 9421.

CONCLUSION I ask all members to take the trouble to come along to the AGM in May 2014, as well as the various Briefing Meetings to occur up to July 2014. I also encourage all members to participate in the postal elections for Committee in May 2014.

EMPLOYEES OF THE 4TH QUARTER 2013 The employees of the 4th Quarter 2013 have been named. The winners for the Front and Back of House quarter were: Front of House: Mr Will Corbett

PROPOSED AIRSPACE AIRSPACE 8

CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB • MAY - JULY 2014 EDITION

Building Towards an

Exciting Future

City Tattersalls Club is pleased to update you with the indicative plans for your Club. Established in 1895, City Tattersalls Club is one of the largest and most prestigious clubs in Sydney. The Club is about its members. Our focus is on providing the best facilities possible to you while securing the future of the Club for the next 100 years. As a result, we are hoping you will consider voting in favour of this exciting proposal to redevelop our Club.

The proposed development comprises a 48-floor building with mixed use potential, including seven floors of upgraded member facilities, a new state-ofthe-art fitness centre, top rating day spa and a finedining terrace restaurant on level 7. It also includes a 100-room hotel from levels 8 - 13 and private apartments over 34 floors.

There is no doubt that Sydney’s CBD is highly competitive, particularly in regards to gaming. We believe the proposed development will help reduce the Club’s dependence on gaming by providing an array of new facilities and services. We hope the new offerings will attract local, interstate and international members and visitors to the Club.

The proposed development has been created to provide members with the following benefits:

Mirvac was selected as the preferred developer for the proposed development. Mirvac will draw on its expertise and strong track record in major CBD developments to deliver the most innovative and best quality facilities for your enjoyment. We will be working closely with a leader in the development and construction industry. Importantly, by broadening our Club’s offering we will lift our competitiveness in the CBD and secure our Club’s long-term endurance and prosperity.

• Upgraded and new facilities • Ownership of a 100 room hotel • Complete new offering for local, interstate and international members - a total change to the Club’s business model • Private apartments supporting the City Tattersalls Club offerings and giving greater presence in Sydney • Substantial increase in the overall Club assets • The long term survival of the Club

In the coming months we will continue to engage members about the proposed development plan, including the history of our progress to date and field questions before a formal member vote proposed for July this year. In the following pages you will find information about the proposed development plan.

• Signage naming rights on top of the tower The proposed development is part of an ongoing Controlled Development Plan commenced in 2004, which included a comprehensive program of works to improve the Club’s facilities for existing and new members.

MAH-JONG

We run a handicap tournament every Wednesday night commencing at 7.00pm. Prizes to be won. Come along and join in a good night of competition! Tournaments are run on a handicap basis, so everyone has a chance of winning! Ladies are most welcome to join.

Mah-Jong is a tile game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy and calculation. The game is played with a set of 152 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Each player begins by receiving thirteen tiles, then players draw and discard tiles until they complete a legal hand using the fourteenth drawn tile to form four groups and a pair. We welcome new players to join in this fun, entertaining game.

CHEETAHS SWIMMING CLUB

EARLY BIRD CLUB

Enquiries: Dennis Tritt 0402 825 359

The Cheetahs is a men’s swimming club, steeped in tradition and in 2009 completed its 50th anniversary. The club holds events each Thursday evening in the pool of the Mens Fitness Centre, commencing at 6.15pm. Usually three swimming events are conducted ranging from 25 to 400 yards with 50 yard events the most common. Swimming is usually followed by a get together at one of City Tatts bars. Any members who turn up will be made to feel very welcome and can ‘try it out’ for a night - just turn up.

The Early Bird Club was formed for CTC Men’s Gym Members. Its aim is to provide a means to maintain and further develop the friendships for the early morning trainer gym groups. If you are new to the Men’s Gym and don’t have anyone to spot you or to train with, this group is perfect for you. This Club also has a few socials throughout the year so the camaraderie can progress from the gym centre to a more relaxed social setting.

Ladies Social Bowls are held every Saturday at noon right here at City Tattersalls Club next to Café 2 on Level 2. Women can start new friendships, develop old friendships and learn more about the game of bowls. We welcome new players and if you have never played the game before we also provide free lessons.
