From the Executive Director

Recreational Improvement In Recreation, we love improvement. After all, recreating can improve your health, your skills, your social circles – and even your disposition. With that in mind, we’ve made some “improvements” to the Rec Guide. We’ve always noted an age range on the activity descriptions for children and youth, so parents have information about what activities are appropriate for their child. Now, we’ve added age ranges to all activities to give you more information about an activity before you register. We know that many people tend to favor one community center. Perhaps it’s the one in the neighborhood or the one where everybody knows their name. So, another “improvement” we’ve made divides the adult listings by Campbell, Petersen Barn and Amazon Community Centers. This Guide has also changed the location of the listings for water fitness classes. We’ve moved them to Aquatics – right where you’d expect to find them. And, with nearly eight percent of Eugene’s population Latino, we’re reaching out by adding information in the Guide in Spanish. We want everyone to know they are welcome at our facilities and in our programs. As you peruse the fun activities in this Summer Rec Guide that can help you improve, we hope you’ll consider all these changes improvements, too.
