DESIGN APPROACH We reflect on what is beneficial from the previous projects. We are dedicated to using milk crates as the main material due to their structural possibilities and their associations to Melbourne’s laneway culture. From the countless observations we made of the site we considered what possible interactions we could design for with the project. We wanted it to be robust and secure but also interactive and playful. The intention was to encourage as much interaction from the diverse range of passersby and users as we could. We sought a framework that allows for fixed and loose parts, but also to grow and evolve with time; a space where people could invest themselves, make contributions and compose it for themselves. We end up suggesting a Playground for Urban Dwellers. Using milk crates feels like playing with big Lego pieces anyway.
