SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA. Austell, Atlanta, Ga.

The Six Flags theme park poses a unique and diverse compilation of forces, pathways and attractions. Within an architectural context it creates an intriguing challenge to accommodate the many different zones of interaction and sensory inputs.

culturally and contextually integrated production. A synthesized relationship between digital modeling and fabrication, propagates cohesion within the design process. These factors contribute to an increase in production value, measured in terms of both quality and longevity across a large spectrum of products. The refinement and re-evaluation of these aspects, along with a reassessment of scope, performance, and scale may indicate a new direction and intent within the “process” of architecture.

Christopher Ireland ARCH 799-07 Architecture Graduate Studio: Thesis II Prof. Scott Dietz Spring 2012

Today, human development immerses itself in an age defined by specialization and production. A constantly narrowing investigative scope prompts society to become so encapsulated by the separation of details, that the greater connection between fields of assimilation becomes easily misplaced. The once indispensable codependency of the creation of an architectural environment and occurrent interaction within that environment, finds itself superseded by a recurring demand for over-consumption, disconnection, and the qualitative de-emphasis of that which people create, and subsequently inhabit.

This thesis investigates both the aerial existent perspective and the potential dichotomy between the process of product design, and the comprehensive and synergetic development of architecture. The processional analysis places focus on objectively integrated digital modeling, formal/spatial simulation, and information gathering to inform integration. Arguing that the investigation of the preconditions for an expansion of digital design techniques employed within industrial design, may invoke greater potential to invent, explore, develop and systematize new techniques within the “qualitative industrialization” of architecture.

Within the discipline of industrial design and product fabrication, exists a means of rigorous, ergonomic, economic, culturally and contextually integrated production. INSTALLATION LENOX SQUARE. Buckhead, Atlanta, Ga.

The intersection between lenox rd and peachtree road has created an urban divider since the districts inception. The installation response provides pedestrians with a means of walkable connectivity between the two shopping complexes as well as softening the harsh street edge that is currently present on both the north and south corners of the square.
